Default 2500 RPM Fuel Cut-Off???

My car is not even a week old and here's what happened. I was at the light and when it turned green I got a bit too happy and released the clutch too quick and stalled. I restarted right away but suddenly the car is not going past 2500 in gear. I pulled it out of gear, revved it to 4000, put it back in gear and at 2500 it starts bucking. It feels like a fuel cut off and I am totally freaked out. Any idea what it might be? Maybe it is some kind of a protective function but if it is I don't think I've heard about it and haven't seen it in the manual, though I didn't finish it yet.

Thanks in advance.

I had the same thing happen to me in my last car. It was a bad alternator. I'd take it to the dealership it should be covered under your warranty. Good luck.

Thank you for help, I hope it's the ECU and not the alternator. I wonder why this happened though, not even 350 miles on it.

This can happen just because of stalling?

Jesus, when I test drove, even the dealer stalled once...if the car started limping after that I doubt I'd be getting one.

it should not have gone into limp mode just because you stalled it. I would take it to the dealer and let them read the code and reset the ecu.

It doesn't sound like a bad alternator, but does sound like it's in limp mode. I agree with everyone else to take it to the dealer & let them pull the code.

I have a question, I was given a valet key, I thought that was to limit the rpms the car can reach when that key is being used? Could that be whats happening here? I really have no idea, just a guess.

I wish it was the valet key.... but no, it isn't unfortunatelly. I will get off work in an hour and if this is going to continue I will take it to the dealer. Hopefully I will be able to "limp" there safely .

This happened to mine a couple of months ago and it hasn't happened again since. It was also after a stall. I found out it was in "safe mode."

At the time, people suggested it was the MAF sensor, so you may want to check into that if it doesn't go away by itself. I didn't even have to reset the ECU.

Good luck.

Yea, I came out after work and it was fine, just like nothing happened at all. That pretty much made my day. I took a "long-cut" on the way home and just cruised a little to quiet my nerves . I wonder now if this happens after restarting the car really quick after it stalls but I don't thing I will be trying to replicate the problem . I hope this will be the biggest problem...
