Default Any stock Z ran a stock Subaru STI?

With 300hp, turbo'd 4 cyl. and AWD, has anyone (stock Zs) gone up against the Subaru STI stock off the line? Do you guys think they are worthy opponents? Just curious?

Off the line the STi's do great becuase they are AWD. Either way the car is definately more than worthy opponent because there stock times are way better than the Z's.

Yes the STi does 0-60 in 4.7 where as the Z does 5.3.
0-30 the STi does it in 1.2 and Z does 2.1.
In a quarter mile the STi's are doing low 13 and Z's are in the high 13's.

Stock vs stock a STI will own. I ran one from a 30MPH roll and I pulled on him about 1/2 a car and it stayed that way. He had a Standalone ECU and straight pipes back.

Hands down, the STi will get you every time, straight or through the twisties . . . its an excellent race / rally vehicle that, IMO, is underpriced for its abilities. Any of us could have chosen an Evo or an STi, but we wanted a little curb appeal. If you could slap together a setup like theirs on a vehicle designed like a Z, I'm sure you would see a shift, BUT hey, its not gonna happen

The way I see it, there's always someone who's going to be faster . . . period. Just be prepared to swallow your pride, look them straight in the eye, and ask their girl if she wants a ride *LOL*

STI all the way! The Z cant touch it! Straight, turns whatever! Also the modding on that thing is rediculous! 450 hp in no time and not alot of money. I had to settle for the Z. Dont get me wrong i love my Z but STI's are partial to my heart!

STI's and EVO's may spank us but a small margin in speed. But we spank them in a huge margin in looks. That's why I bought the Z, versus one of those cars.

I try not to street race anymore so the Z better suited my needs.

I ran an STi with only TB exhaust when I was stock. We started at 40mph. He pulled 1/2 a car when he shifted into 3rd and held it all the way to 120.

Default Plus the STi is a punk racer magnet!

As a geezer, I took a test drive in an STi to see "what I was missing" in my Z. Nice car, lots of power, but not my style. But the WORST was that from the moment I drove it off the dealer lot there were SRT-4s, Civics, oil-burning Camaros, etc. crawling all over me! No, thanks! In my Z they seem to respect my, er, status and leave me alone!

My cousin and my brother in law have STI's and I love them. There real quick off the line. They got me at about a car lenghth from a stop. Thiks one time I raced both of them at once from a roll on a three lane road. It was awesome pulled both of them a bout a car on one and half on the other. It was great thats when they stopped talking **** but from a stop they will win every time.

It's just an econobox and fast for buying groceries with the family with turbo and suspension brakes, wings, etc. fugly...yes it'll win but who cares? It's not a Z.

I have a video of a race I did against the STi that Mantis mentioned. You may view it by clicking here. In the first race from a roll, I pulled. In the second race from a roll, I missed a shift and lost some ground, however, you can clearly see I was able to make up that ground before he braked. In the third race from a stop, the STi driver bogged.

The STi isn't so much faster then a Z that you should run and hide. If the driver of the STi doesn't get the perfect launch and you do, it will be an interesting race. Anytime I can get a friendly race in against one I will. If I lose, I'll give the guy a thumbs up and be on my merry way. Keep in mind there are plenty of people out there who buy a car and have no clue how to drive it. That goes for both Z owners and STi owners. There are also people who can drive, but may mess up from time to time. As long as you can run an STi without endangering anyone, I say go for it.
