Default Going from high flows to test pipes, good or bad?

I have been running the crawford high flow cats for about 4 months now and I really like them. However lately I have been hearing from some other Z enthusiasts how race pipes would be better. Im wondering if its all worth it to go from high flows to pipes. Also I heard about the CEL coming on all the time with the pipes but the Kinetix web site offer pipes that do not trigger the CEL at all according to them. I feel that for the price the pipes are a good mod. What pipes out there would you guys recommend if you think I should change them at all? Also I paid $550 for my crawford high flow cats do u think I can ask for $250-$270 to re-sale (honestly though)?

Would the car get louder with pipes? I think it would right?

A few things to think about.

1. Emissions testing and inspection - depends on the state you live in, but test pipes will not pass inspection
2. Exhaust note will be louder with potential raspiness. The overall effect will depend upon the rest of your intake/exhaust modifications. Some companies make test pipes with built in resonators to help with the overall raspiness, but they are more expensive.
3. You should gain some HP/TQ and lose some weight increasing performance. Overall gain will depend on the level of other modifications.

I just took the race pipes off of my car. I had the complete Stillen setup: headers, race pipes, and exhaust. It was way too loud (in a bad way) and raspy. So make sure you like the sound before you switch. I had no problems with the CEL with the race pipes. Stillen are not resonated BTW so I don't have a comment on the sound of ones with resonators.

People are ga-ga for Crawford, so I don't think that you would have any problem selling your high-flow cats.

The only difference would be that the test pipes weigh a lot less, and you might gain about 1-2hp. Crawford cats make great power, so powerwise there wouldn't be a lot of difference. I have the kinetix resonated test pipes and I honestly only hear a little rasp at WOT, but that is because I have a TT, and a TT quites down every exhaust. I haven't had them on before the TT, so I can't exactly tell you how loud they would be. If I were in your position I wouldn't go to test pipes because I just wouldn't want to go through the hassle of selling the HF cats, buying the resonated test pipes, and installing them for may be 1-2hp, and then there's the possibility that your exhaust would be too loud if you add an aftermarket exhaust with the test pipes.
