I shook hands with Mr. K today.....
...and my hands are still sweaty. No big scoops from the Bay Area unveiling but a great day overall. The Nissan officials were very protective of the car, to the point of yanking some poor guy out who dared to try to sit in the driver's seat. It was a base model but definitely not a disappointment.
Nice meeting you, ZBART and CHEAP. I'm sure they'll have better pictures and more details later today.

That's the confirmation from Nissan. Only those with pre-orders were given the photo op. It also doubled as a sweat rag. I soaked it!
I also picked up two of these drawings of the Z and had Mr. K sign them. Sorry about the photo quality, it was extremely dark inside the museum.

Jay,
You may want to Tim to send you the drawing to your new home overlooking Newport Beach, CA. You see, I own a couple of these homes, and I am giving you this one.
But seriously Tim, that is a great pic of you with the print and Mr K. You have another worthy article for your Z shrine.

The Blackhawk Museum event was staged as an "unveiling" of the new Z. When I got there there were 3 cars under covers in the center of a roped off ring. There were so many people it was hard to see much. They uncovered the first car, an orange 240Z. The second was Mr. K's personal 260Z, a very intense yellow. The third car was a Daytona Blue Base Model 350Z. The folks who pre ordered were then allowed to have their pictures taken with Mr. K. Everyone just milled around the car most of the morning. No one was allowed to sit in it, but you could lean in through the drivers door and get a feel for the car.
Folks, the car is going to be well worth the wait. They let us sit in it after lunch. The line to sit in the drivers seat was too long, so I sat in the passenger side. This is no bottom of the line car. It is SOLID! When that door closes, it sounds tight. You sit very low in the car. The seats are exactly right. It feels like you are buckled up in a machine that means business.
As quite a few have said before, the pictures do not do the car justice. It looks like its ready to go out there and do battle. Very wide, low, and mean. The pipes are huge. ID must be almost 4"
The Blue is Nice. Lighting inside the museum wasn't that great, but the car looked marvelous.

Have to agree..the car looks so much different in person! It is absolutely incredible. And even though I chose BricKyard, the Daytona Blue is awesome. Took a whole lot of pictures as well. Was really impressed with the cloth seats..they are great!!
Also got a chance to shake hands with Mr. K in front of the Z.
I was standing right behind pointfivezero in line while waiting to get the same print signed by Mr. K. And I didn't even know it!
Got a chance to meet a couple of the board guys as well.
I swear Cheap looks like he just got his driver's license lol!! But he's a great guy!
