Don't think its rendered on the PS2...thats just a CG graphic probably.

 

Looks like a mix of programs to me. The background looks like SoftImageXSI maybe, and the actual car is probably Lightwave or something similar.

It does look like it. Lightwave has the soft blurriness. The model looks like @$$.

 

Oh, it's definitely lightwave. it's not that bad, he nailed the perspective and the reflections. The lighting needs some work and the front left fender appears to be smashed in on the front. The tires are too perfect to be from a real car and the headlights are a bit off - although I can't tell how, they just don't look right.

Overall, it's an amazing job. If it were perfect chances are he wouldn't be modelling 350z in his spare time, he'd be doing it 40 hours a week

The depth of the picture is amazing. I wouldn't be suprised if this started out as a real picture and he layered the models over top of it.

 

The headlights don't stop that far back on the hood side of them.
