nah, not yet still waiting for theyre answer, since when i bought the car due to the fact im only twenty i financed the car through my dad and the better business bureau needed the owner of the car to sign some papers so they could have some more fighting power, i would assume b/c they could like its their car they want fixed, but not sure, my dad signed the papers on friday so im expecting some progress or at least an answer from nissan regarding where my car is going just wondering, honestly HOW WOULD NISSAN OR ANYONE FOR THAT MATTER PROVE THAT EXHAUSTS BLEW A MOTOR? like what kind of test can you do to check if the mods did it, i really dont understand how they plan to prove that the mod blew the motor, im def confused on this.

350zbiturbo. If you got the oil changes done by a Nissan dealer NNA might be more flexable with the warranty at 39K. Nice car and I hope everything works out for the best.
Just out of curiosity... did you get your 30k service done at the dealership? My friend that used to work at an acura dealership said they would normally cut more warranty breaks with people that did all the major services at acura.
I had a buddy with an S2k blow his motor due to hydrolock. We ended up taking the intake off and putting the stock airbox back on. He was freeking out and i told him to get a lawyer, so he did. THe lawyer only cost 500 bucks for the whole thing and he ended up getting a brand new engine from Honda and the best part was he had 65k miles on it. THe lawyer proved that he had gotten all his oil changes through Honda and on or around 3k miles and the car was not mistreated.
OH and the second thing, THere is a law that says the dealer must replace or fix the problem with any modification on there car as long as that problem was NOT the cause of the issue!!
SO for instance in your case there is almost NO way an exhaust could kill an engine, it may set off the O2 sensor or screw something up and you would have noticed it. You need to find a Good lawyer and make your case strong they WIll listen trust me.....

Maybe I should sign up for that prepaid lawyer service... get them to take care of any tickets or problems with the dealership I might have in the future
alright guys, good news but not super exciting, they have agreed to send a nissan engineer i guess thats what you call him, cant remember exactly on tuesday morning at 930 in the morning to inspect my car, so i think this is a good thing i finally will have my car checked out my question is to you guys, what can they test to find out what happen to my car, like is their ANY way possible for my exhaust to have blown my motor i have asked around and no one has said it can, so im assuming this should be an easy yes hopefully, thanx guys i will give you the heads up on wednesday this week coming up to tell you what theyre answer is, if by any chance they say no, what do you think I should do next???
NiZZan can read the computer in your car and it will give them a log of previous things such as overrevving (putting it into 2nd going 100MPH) or other things like that. Or your air fuel ratio.....to lean to rich

how do you over rev the car, if it has the redline, but w/e, i reset my ecu b4 it went to the dealer so how are they gonna pull that info, a friend of mine told me to reset the ecu, so i did so i hear that that might be erased, i just want the car fixed ive been like 2 and 1/2 months without a car this is already ridicoulous

No really, its easy to do. there is a thread in the engine forum. Search for ecu reseting threads. its there. Basically just pressing your accelerator pedal in and out ina certain time period. Check it out. BEN
I dont think an exhaust would manage to make your engine blow, at least I havent heard anything like that before, and even if they check your history, there was nothing wrong on your driving, you did not even missshift or anything like that. IMO you should be fine, hopefully everything works out for you. It sucks not having a car for almost 3 months.

Cool! Thanks! Will check it out ...
The rev-limiter is only going to prevent your right foot from over-revving the car, it will not prevent you from mis-shifting to a lower gear and having the tranny push the engine above its' redline. Quoted by kcobean
THanks for backing me up!!!
As he and i said they would check the ECU for overrevving which like he explained and i did as well if you mis- shifted liek i said b4 throwing it into 2nd gear going 100mph!!!
I am not saying you did but they will check for that to make sure it wasnt DRIVERS ERROR.
I dont understand why you would have reset your ECU if you have nothing to hide that makes it look worse if you did reset it than if you brought it in with an ECU that read everything was in good standings.
I have 2 buddies that blew their engine in their S2000 one was from Drivers Error and Honda knew when they read the ECU and it read 12000RPMs he accidentally put it in the wrong gear.

Sooo...I have been following this thread and looking in once in a while. I have a few questions:
1. Did the Z get revived?
2. Was the root cause of failure determined?
3. What has been done to prevent a similar failure in the future?
I ask because I am researching forced induction and have found a lot of data on the forum page dedicated to that. Just wondering if there was anything else to consider.
ThankZ !
