Default Turning car off...

I took my car to the dealer today for its 30,000 mile tune up thing, when I pulled my car up and shut it off he was like NO NO NO NO! but it was to late i already turned the car off. He had me restart it and told me to rev up to about 2500RPMs hold it and then shut the car off. He says he has seen many many Zs that have to be towed in because they flud and then they wont start and it will ost me 340$ if it is to happen. Is this true or is he getting my car mixed up with the RX-8?

The guy is full of ****, i have never heard of anyone messing up their engines because they didnt rev to 2500 rpm's before turning off. I know you have to do that with the RX-8 though. BTW i dont know if I would want a dumbass like that working on my car.

Wow, I've never heard this one before... And I've heard of a lot from reading these boards...

This thread is better suited for Z Coupe Roadster.

Yes, Iv read a bit on the RX8 forums and they have that flooding problem.. but that problems suppose to happen to the rotary not to a normal combustion engine -?

Amazing that people get these cars mixed up. Please tell me it wasn't a Nissan Mech that did this...Please!? I think in the almost year and a half that I've been on this forum, I've NEVER ONCE heard of this happening to a Z. That dude is crazy.

Yes it was a Nissan mech. and ovbiously they dont know what they are doing because after I picked my car up i pulled into the garage and the engine is squeaking so annoyingly loud...my friends say its the belts but why would it do it now?? after im supposed to get eveyrthing checked out. So again tomorrow morning up at 7am and back to the shop. I seriously hope it blows up on they way there so they have a lot of work ahead of them. With all the squeaking should I not drive it around tonight?

haha the guy actually told me to drive it around tho..."even if the engine does blow up its under warranty" his exact words. ITs prolly not that bad but little stuff like that makes me so mad, especially after spending 500$ on a 30000 mile service

I only read the lead post.

Is it possible to even flood a fuel injected PISTON engine? Most are metered by air.

Unbelieveable...after all that, I'd love to hear what this service tech would say if you asked him how to change the pistons on a Mazda RX-8.

hahah! Well i took it for a long drive on the freeway i would go like 4 miles turn around and go again just to see if I could get it to go away and now im home and the squeak is gone...but im guessing that once it cools off it will be back again. Now that the squeak is gone when I turn the car off its like one BIG squeak sounds kinda like an aftermarket intake that used to be on my Acura RSX and when i would shut it off it would blow air out of the intake and make the same kind of noise

What a moron. By the way, I was very close to buying an RX-8, and it was only early RX-8s that had flooding problems. I think they fixed it with an ECU reflash a long time ago. If he told me to turn my car on, rev it 2500, and turn it off, I would have turned my car on, reved it 2500, and launched my a$s to a different dealership.

Obviously, this dealership doesn't know cars very well. If there had been a factory (or aftermarket) turbo, it is RECOMMENDED that you let the engine idle for a minute to let everything coast down. I feel the same logic applies to any engine. Fast revs followed by the oil pump shutting down. Seems like a bad move to me.

Well it was like $430.36. But still the main reason I took it there was because I got my car a month ago and he said he was going to check everything out and make sure everything was all good.
