Default Eperience/opinions on Inventory Buyback event

Keep in mind it's prolly bullsh1t/sales puffery. I'm always skeptical of these things, but I figured I could enlist the help of any fellow my350z members that have experience with this.

My local Nissan dealership said they need to buy back 12 2003 350z's to fill a "quota". It's says "Our salespeople have been authorized to buy it back and any cost."

"After we buy back your Nissan 350z, we'd like to exhange it for a new 2005 Nissan. All factory rebates and low financing are still in effect"

If anyone has had experience with this, do the dealers give you a legitimately good deal? Also, what kind of quota do they have to fill? Says they need 12 2003 350zs to meet quota....

Your first sentence hit it right on the head. It's BS. It's a sales gimmic.

Look at it this way, when you trade in a car, the dealer is buying it back from you, then applying the money to the new car you're buying from them.

You never will get a good "deal". It's a matter of how badly they f*ck you over, sometimes it's not as bad as others.

I was very sure that it was a scam. The only thing that would change my mind would be several accounts of "OMG, I GOT TEH BETST DAEL EVAAAR ON A BUYBACK!!!"

The one thing about the letter that annoys me ...since when would a dealer have a friggin' quota of 12 2003 350z's it needs to buy back??!?!

Must be a secret!!!!!!!!!! SHHHHHHHHHH

Oh, i forgot to mention, it's an "invitation only event". I'm a high profile customer! *COUGH

Maybe they have someone wanting some first year cars for some reason? Generally this is a scam though..

I had a buy back letter come wanting my Jeep Wrangler.. We Must buy them back!!

Take the Letter to the Dealer and Point out the "At any Cost" and tell them you want $50K for it. If they dont give it to you, file a lawsuite.

You will lose the lawsuit and a hell of a lot of money to pay a lawyer.

Yeah, the catch being they are "authorized" to buy it back at any cost. So it's their decision. They can't be sued. I might throw them an e-mail asking if they'll buy it off me for 40K though, just for fun

I got one of those letters here in Houston. Since you are in NY, it must be a gimmick from NNA. It is only a way to generate sales.

Yup.. i got the same letter. Only I took it one step further. I called them and said that they can buy back my Z for $120,000... The guy was like "huh" I then said that the letter said "At any cost" ... I'm such an A-Hole Its just a marketing ploy to get you back in there buying another car from Nissan
