Default Base uprgrades? Help!

My position is this, i've ordered a base z to save the 2k over enthusiast. I am buying the car for performance. I was thinking I could mod the car myself with that 2k and do things that I wanted.

Aluminum pedals- can buy over courtesyparts.com from nissan

hid headlights- can I buy better, brighter ones? some one told me it would be very expensive (like 2K)

cruise control-don't need it

traction control- good for slippery roads only(wish i had it)

LSD- THE MOST IMPORTANT ONE, IS IT TRUE THAT WITHOUT THIS WHEN DOING A BURNOUT ONLY 1 TIRE WILL SPIN. I'VE READ THAT WITHOUT LSD THE CAR IS SLOWER BECAUSE OF THIS. IF THIS IS TRUE HOW MUCH WILL IT COST TO GET A GOOD LSD (WHEN THEY COME OUT)

PLEASE, I DON'T UNDERSTAND LSD CONCEPT THIS IS THE MAIN THING I NEED TO KNOW!

Kaaz will offer a LSD as will several other companies.

More information

I think you are taking the best route to what you want. I chose the Enthusiast model because I didn't want to pay for wheels, seats, and a stereo that I would just upgrade later. Besides, what fun is a car that you don't mod?? Thats how we set our cars apart from everyone else on the road. Any more questions, ask away.

I also have a base.....
Sparco pedals- $45 and nicer then stock
HID's, if you even need them-400-700 for good aftermarket
Cruise- I didn't need
Traction Control- didn't have before, didn't need now
And for the big question....
LSD- this also was my main concern. Yes, only one tire will spin. However, I don't think the car will be slower due to the fact that it is the lightest model and due to the fact that I already ran a 13.90 at the track on my 3rd try and the magazines all got around 13.99+ with the other models they tested. And yes, A aftermarket LSD is available for around $850 and it is alot better and stronger than the stock one which some people are complaining about...Just my.02

If you plan to drive in the winter in VA, I would think twice about not getting the enthusiast, the TCS is fantastic.

j's 350z, thankyou-that is exactly what i needed, 13.9?! You must be a really good driver. The concern with snow isn't that bad because it rarely snows around here (southern va) although they are calling for some snow/ice around here tom. So, fellow base owners(i should be one too in about a week) are yall going to get the aftermarket lsd. I personally can't wait to start modding the z. This is my first sports car, and its very exciting.

Default Make your car your car

Here's another Silverstone base owner ! Yours was a very wise move overall . The Nissan LSD is far from good . I'm going for aftermarket as well . I didn't want the traction control as I won't be driving it in the winter much and I have been driving along time with out it and don't really feel it is that crucial( I have it on a BMW and it never comes on ) . I don't plan on racing or anything close . Perhaps it is for some others . So be it . But take the cash difference and customize . You now have the greatest deal on a car to come along in a long time ! Very smart my friend .This car is the sportscar deal of the century . Even more so when you go base and pick your own additions to meet your own needs .I also didn't care for the fact that to get the leather seats I originally wanted , I had to get the automatic ( ugh!) or pay extra for the 6 manual . Ridiculous !! So don't be yanked around by car companies , dealers , or other owners who can't drive without every safety device in the world . Although the LSD is a good basic all time feature .Do your own thing and you will be glad you did later . Good luck ! I'll say it again .Make your car fit your needs .

well said Frankiezz! I just laugh when I see ppl paying 35K+ on markups on z's when I got mine for exact base price 26,200 or whatever. I payed exactly that and NO MARKUPS. Nissan intended the base model for budget ppl (like me) and for those who like to customize their car (like me). Long live the Z!
