Default Trading in the Z :(

A few months ago I traded in my 03 Evo for an 03 Z Touring 6spd. I recently wrecked it and had severe suspension damage. Since then the car doesnt seem to drive just the same, the bumper isnt 100% aligned correctly(I am so picky I can notice it), and its making weird rattling noises inside like some panels are loose now. Also wind noise has increased. I am trading it in Monday for a 2002 Trans Am WS.6. JW what some of your opinions are on this decision. My car has 45K miles and wrecked....the TA 40K Miles and never been wrecked. It is spotless and was owned by a schoolteacher. Theres no way to compare stock for stock LS1 power and the power of the Z motor...but lets here some opinions other than power output bc surely the LS1 takes the cake

bottom line it's a Camaro/Firebird.... no thanks.

but each to their own.......

on the power side of things yes it makes some very nice power. but look at the size of it as with the weight on top of it being an american car that holds almost no resale vaule

Well they're fast. I've never been a fan of any f-body though. They should come standard issue with a mullet. EVOs and 350s are beautiful cars man, that's a weird change in style, but hell if you like it....

+1.....quite possibly the worst quality choice you could make outside of a Hyundai or Kia.

I've actually been blazing a lot of chronic. I am interested in going fast right now and I don't like how expensive it is to do so in my Z. I want over 500 to the wheels and that is something I can do without having to get a built motor lke I would need to in my Z. Plus its been wrecked the Z isnt the same. Not to mention its about speed not style at this point. Its a given that the Z looks a lot better. The Z rattles on the inside and panels get loose. The Z is a Nissan but its actually one of the import cars that I believe could use a little bit of extra work. My Z at least at 40,000 miles already had some annoying things as far as the cabin goes.

Personally I'd go for a '90-'96 300Z twin turbo. There are some great examples out there with low miles for pretty cheap. Better looking car, and you keep the t-tops.

If you think your Z rattles...well, lets just say the firebird won't be much better, accident or no accident.

500 to the wheels in a light car like the z and 500 to the wheels in a transcamaro i s a totally different thing. think of the difference in strapping a jet engine to a go-cart versus a 60 ton tank.

Good luck.

350z is a better car! Nissan is alot better than mitsubishi! look at the 300zx vs the pos 3k gt, but anyway the 350 is faster down here anyway..

I don't see why you wouldn't just go back to an evo. They're super easy to mod (factory FI... mmmm...) and the AWD is great for launching when drag racing (which is apparantly what you are interested in, since you're considering a trans am). On top of that, the evo will dance around a trans am on a track, not to mention the fact that it's got 4 doors and a decent trunk. And it's probably built way better. Sure, it's ugly, but so is the trans am.

I won't dump on the WS6, but I think if that car is a viable option for you, the Z was probably never really in your blood like it seems to be for alot of us. Hope you're able to get the Z sold and into whatever suits you at the time. You're kinda all over the board in your choices.

One last thought (begin soapbox) is that if it's all about speed, not style right now, be safe, you've already wrecked the sub-300 HP car, you're gonna be twice as 'at risk' with a big ol' American muscle car. Keep it real and stay alive. (end soapbox)

Good luck

i honestly love the way evos and stis look. sure it doesnt have the wide fenders, but i like the distinctive rally rugged look they have. and theyre so easy to mod, reflash to ecu and see how much hp u gain in an evo
i want to get one so bad, but the interior makes me think twice. im not like my friends who are all about performance, call me a pretty boy, but i care about the interior too lol
