Default Something about GPS Navigation System

Wassup all. Just last week I saw an '04 Touring 350Z. That gives me plenty of space to negotiate for a good price. I need a GPS system, but unfortunately the 350Z that the dealership has does not include it.

So my question is, can an after-market GPS system get retro-fitted?

I appreciate the help. Thanks.

It's definitely possible. If I was doing it all over again I'd probably go with the oem system just because I'm lazy, but you can definitely get aftermarket system installed in there and make them look almost stock. I have an Alpine nav system tucked away in the factory location (mailbox slot behind the driver's seat) and an Alpine screen stuck in the factor screen location. Some people actually think it's stock until they notice the Alpine logo. Here are some pics of my install to give you an idea:

The only trick is that if you get an '04 or higher, you'll want to retrofit the '03 cubby hole pocket in there. The '03 unit has *much* more space and is much easier to work with than the '04 units and later. Super easy swap. We've discussed it quite a bit in the audio forum here.

Hi,

Here is my GPS navigation install. 7" LCD monitor with a separate GPS system component placed in the rear compartment. I control the navigation with this remote. I can update the map with the flash memory card. I'm in South Korea now, and Korean aftermarket GPS navigation products are far more advanced.

Later,

Jay

So, you were in Yongsan when you took the picture? Are there many 350Zs in Seoul?

Do the Korean GPS systems include traffic information and re-routing? Traffic in Seoul is so bad, I wonder whether it would help.

I'm not Korean but taught at Yonsei University in 1974-75. My daughter is there now, attending summer school. She loves it.

Nice setup. It's good seeing that there are other members here in the ROK. I'm in Taegu.
