Default nissan not so friendly/trashy show rooms

I'm trading in my 2002 Lexus IS300 this week for a 350z roadster touring... Nothing against the 350z, but I've notice all the waiting rooms/show rooms are really trashy... The staff isn't as friendly as the people at Lexus...

I don't know if it was the specific Nissan dealership I was at but it was not what I would call a good experience.

Nissan is definitely not a luxury brand. ALL the shops I shpped at were the same. Very "American made" dealerships.

But the car is cool!

The dealership in Fairfield is actually pretty nice and was just remodled. They have quite a few Z's on the lot too. I bought mine in Concord and that one was ok too.

The place I deal with must be an exception... great, friendly service... and a nice waiting area. Don't know if being a Nissan/Infiniti dealership has any influence.... Birchwood Infinity/Nissan

I also traded in my '02 IS300 last week for a yellow roadster and I noticed the same thing. Lexus as a company is all about the details.... That said, I LOVE MY Z!!!!!!!

Good luck!

To the OP... well, duh, (since Nissan isn't a luxury brand) I would never expect Nissan overall to have a very good buying experience or have nice showrooms compared to Lexus. The Bellevue, WA Lexus dealer is nicer than any Nissan dealer I've set foot in.

FWIW, I both by my cars at Nissan of Fife (in WA) and had great buying experiences. The dealership is pretty new looking but nothing fancy like a Lexus dealer.

Seriously, at the bmw dealershiph there was a little cabana type thing with cookies, coffee, juice, couches, and a couple tv`s.

I was amazed to say the least.

I bought mine from Myrtle beach and it was a clean dealership, but the finance manager was an a$$ hole.. Me and my g/f were able to talk him down almost $150 /month on the payment and knocked off 1.5%..i hate it when nissan tries to jack up the interest rate points. I was approved for under 5% but he told me i couldnt get it..i have a beacon score of 740 and make very well with my overseas job and he told me i couldnt rate at a lower interest rate than 6.75%.. I told him b.s. and that i was keeping the altima..finally he told me he was going to "call in some favors" and got my interest rate to 5%..I still feel violated..but i got my car and can refinance it with my Credit union for much less..sorry had to vent..thats been kept in since march..lol

that's actually not completely accurate. If you read all the details, its much closer to invoice because its calculated as follows:
Dealer invoice
Minus VPP discount (Nissan 2.87% : Infiniti 1.65%)
Plus dealer added options, Security Plus, etc.
Plus 2.5% delivery fee of dealer invoice after VPP discount has been subtracted
Plus destination and handling charge
Minus applicable incentives
Equals paticipant's purchase price

So, essentially, you get 2.87% off, then tack 2.5% back on. Its really not great, but the benefit is avoiding any kind of haggling (which is the fun part for me, anyway, so I don't particularly care for the program).

We have a RX300 and the treatment of how Lexus to Nissan is no comparsion. That is why Lexus is rated #1 for customer service and customer satisfaction. Nissan does not even consider you at times, they treat you like a high school kid. On other hand, Lexus treat you with professionalism.

If you want a nice showroom and waiting area with comfortable couches but want to be treated like you're an infection check out Capitol Nissan in San Jose. They have just remodeled.

If you want to talk to sales people and managers who have no idea about the cars they are selling, the people who are buying them, what might be compared to them or anything else but their commission, go to Capitol Nissan in San Jose.

If you want to wait in line to pay the cashier for twenty minutes while three cashiers service one person, go to Capitol Nissan in San Jose.

If you want to stand at the parts counter for fifteen minutes while some guy behind the counter talks to his girlfriend on the phone, go to Capitol Nissan in San Jose.

If you want to wait thirty minutes to pick up your car after you have paid because no one can find the service writer with your keys, go to Capitol Nissan in San Jose.

If you want to get a letter from Nissan USA saying they are concerned and thankful for the feedback but really don't care, you could write a letter about Capitol Nissan in San Jose.
