Default VDC rocks....or does it??

I have to preface this by saying that I drove a FF Honda Prelude for years (6). WHile it was FF it handled like a dream. However, the Z is a VERY different beast. WHile It obviously handles better there are a few issues I have concerning it tail-out attitude.

The VDC is great (IMO). With it off, I've tried a couple oversteering fast starts (no clutch drops) and have wound up spun out twice.

How do guys w/o VDC drive?? very gingerly??

Also, while it was cold, I wound up spun WITH VDC ON!! is this b/c my tires were cold??

I have spun the tires with VDC occasionally, not from a straight start, but my car seems too "float" around corners, but it feels like the whole car is floating, I am not sure why I get this feel.

as for those without, TCS controls complete peels, and shuts you down, VDC controls your directional motion. where VDC shuts down drifts, TCS takes care of burnouts. now base owners are ont their own, its not like the car has 1000hp and cant be driven without burning out.

if you were curious, the fastest way of driving is without the VDC on, butyou have to know the limits of the traction.

You need to learn throttle modulation in a RWD car. It's not like FWD where you pull yourself around corners by burying the throttle. If you have GT3, drive the C5-R around Laguna Seca until you can make it all of the way around the track, ***** out, numerous times without overcooking the tires in the middle of a turn (apex) and spinning.

Really. It will help.

The car can be driven completely normally without VDC. With VDC on, I noticed that it will kick in almost imediatedly if you experience any sort of wheel spin.. though if you totally lost traction it won't save you worth a damn either. Been there done that just the other day in some slush... not pretty.

I think some of us have to learn the VDC system, I've put a good 5k miles on my z and I drift my car with VDC on .. It takes a while to get used to. VDC limits wheelspin slightly, just depends if it thinks the car is controlled while its doing it. Practice
