Does anyone know how much it would roughly cost to get the rear window of a '99 Cougar tinted? I know the price will vary from shop-to-shop, and probably on the percentage I get, but at the moment, I have to take the tint that is currently on my rear-window off. I bought the car used, and it came with tint. That tint was fine when I bought (Aug of '02), but has recently been bubbling. It has gotten to the point where I cannot even see out of the rear window, which is obviously dangerous. Since I know it will not pass inspection like this, and since I have to get it inspected by August, I need to peel the tint that is on there off.

I would like to get another set of tint put on, from a reputable body shop this time, and I dont know how much it's going to run me. Any comments would be appreciated.

 

By rear window, I assume you mean rear windshield...

Hardest part is taking it off, I have never done it, but I heard it's not an easy job, especially when you have the window defroster on the rear window.. But just tinting the windos should not be much, just for the rear I think you should be around $40 and that's for a good quality tint, not sure how much they charge to take the old one off.

 

In L.A. it cost $70.00 for all back ones, for all around tint 135.00

 

I don't think it would be unreasonable for someone to ask you for $100 to remove what's there and then re-tint it.
