Default My 2 month 3000 miles review.

Well I've had my Pikes Peak white touring Z for 2 months now and I'm just about to roll to 3k miles. So far it has been flawless. My only complaint is sometimes it get a temper when I try to put gas in it, but I can deal with that. I get a very light squeak from the brakes when I slow down to a complete stop, but it doesn't do it all the time. The brake dust is annoying, but I wash my car a few times a week so its not too bad, i'm also planning on getting new pads anyway. As far as the mods i've done so far here's what I think of them

(Z floor mats) - Great mats and the driver side has a rubber area where your heals rest to prevent premature wear. Very Nice!

(Z satin finish license plate frame) - Nice quality and matches the door handles perfect.

(Street scene grille, satin finish) - WOW! I never thought just putting in a grille could do so much for the front end of a car. It definately sets off the front. I guess you can put this on without taking the bumper off, but since I had clear marker lights also I just took the bumper off. I've never taken a bumper off the car before and I found the Z's bumper to be fairly easy to remove. Just take your time and be patient because there's alot of bolts and screws, but you'll be glad you did when you try to install the grille. I had to bend one corner slightly so it would fit perfect, but other than that the grille is a easy install.

(Clear marker lights) - Another easy quick install that makes the front end look great!

(Stillen Type 1 Spoiler) - My brother is a painter at a local body shop so I got this painted and installed for $50 You have to remove the rear emblems. FYI my 05 touring had holes behind the chrome nissan emblem, but this spoiler covers them up anyway. I've gotten tons of complements on this spoiler, it really does make the *** end look great! I'm very happy with the results. It goes on with 3m tape and 4 screws.

(Nismo Cat-Back Exhaust) - I had my dealership install this exhaust. I also had it shipped to them. I bought it for 900 bucks from performance nissan. The dealership wanted 1100 They charged me $115 to install it and that price also included an oil change. At first I didnt think it sounded much different than stock, but the more I drive it the more I like it and it does have its own unique sound. Its quiet at highway speeds too which is nice.

My popcharger and UTR carbon fiber tube is still on back order

That's all, I just thought i'd share that with you guys.

Later,
Kangol

Don't quote me on this, but i've read people who have waxed or polished their rims numerous times to stop the brake dust from collecting.

How's the white paint holding in Michigan's construction dust bs season? Hope you like it! I'm hopin to get a PPW one day!

actually the paint is holding up nicer than I expected. I have two small rock chips on the very bottom of my bumper and of course white shows all the little specs of tar and grime, but I keep my car pretty clean. Bugs and tar don't stay on longer than 24 hours Gotta love NXT GEN Speed detailer! I'll try putting some wax on my wheels and see if it reduces the dust any. Can't hurt to try it.

Reason I asked is, I'm not as **** as I used to be, nor do I have the time to be as ****. So my Z may not be washed as often as i'd hope.

Congrats! Sounds like you're building up a nice Z. I've concentrated on internal mods up until now but will start messing with the outside soon enough. Keep us updated on your progress...

putting wax on the wheels dont to anything in terms of preventing brake dust buildup...i've tried nxt and wheelwax...they only help the dust wash off easier. the only real solution would be change the oem pads

I just installed Nismo cat-back. At highway speeds, when I push the gas, there is a roar coming behind the seat, when I let go the gas, it is all quiet. The roar is so tense that I can't carry a normal conversation. Did this happen to you???

Sounds great... nice mods, glad you enjoy your ride... Pics???

I have the same problem on occasion with the gas fill-up, but like you said, it's something you can live with. For the brake dust, I highly recommend the Hawk HPS pads. I couldn't keep my rims clean with the orginals, but the Hawks don't dust near as bad, and grip better.

So what is the problem with gassing up the car, does it keep tripping the handle to click off because the pump thinks the tank is full? You know that vapor back pressure kind of thing?

There is a gizmo that motorcycle owners use that is designed to keep the spring loaded boots on the gas nozzles compressed, so that you can fill your tank without the damn nozzle handle/lever tripping itself off every 2-3 seconds. It's small enough to keep in your car, about the size of a Zippo cigarette lighter.

Whenever this happens you can reinsert the nozzle upside down. I have no idea why this works.

Whats the deal with filling up the tank? I hadn't heard of any issues with the Z before.

Also, does the Z get decent mileage? I've seen what they are reporting, how true is that?

My Z does that sometimes. Not all the times but sometimes it will keep shutting off the pump. I usually find that if I pull the nozzle out a little bit so it's barely in the tank it stops shutting it down.

Good idea... I'll have to try this.

I've had my car for just over a year now, and this has happened to me only three seprate times... The other day it happend, and I only got about 6-7 gallons in it before it totally screwed up on me...
