Unhappy ugh, crappy first post

I've lurked around this board for a while prior to and after I purchased my 05 SS Enthusiast in May. Unfortunately, my first content to add to it comes in the form of another rear-ended Z:

http://www.flickr.com/photos/14351430@N00/sets/497076/

I was sitting stopped in traffic after work on Friday (in the middle lane of 35W northbound for any MN Z owners), then look up and see a vehicle bearing down on me just before it hits and I hear the dreaded bang upon impact. Not the way I had planned on starting the weekend, to say the least.

Fortunately no one was injured and the other driver was insured, and my car was able to limp away after pulling one of the splash guards off the tire. I haven't had any estimates yet, but I'm guessing it's going to be kind of pricey since the metal subframe/bumper piece is pushed in quite a ways on the right side. Also, the interior black plastic trim around the rear-most lip of the trunk area has popped up and out of place, leading me to believe that the rear bulkhead (or whatever it's called) is probably toast as well.

Any guesses on how long this will take to fix?

If the other driver wasn't injured from the accident he woulda been injured because of the accident if you catch my drift

What a terrible first post, hopefully they get better in the future. Good luck with the repair.

Sorry, for your mishap. From the looks of it, it is going to take at least a week. My bro had similar damage, it took a week to get it done. I see that your tailpipe is bent and that might take a little longer. Go to a reputable body shop, ask if there is any dealership affiliation. My bro's car was fixed by people who fixes wrecked Dodges. Remember its only a car, replacable. And we aren't.

Man, I'm always really worried that I'm gonna get rear ended too. The Z's brakes are pretty good, so when I have to brake hard, I pray some idiot isn't following too closely--many cars will never be able to slow down in time.

I realize this isn't what happened to the OP, but still, this is something I'm concerned about.

that really sucks, hopefully you will find out news that is minor for the Z getting fixed. I'm sure you can find another rear bumper from another member on this board. Lots of people have OEM sitting around when they upgraded. Post a thread in the for sale/WTB area and see if you get any responses to someone who might have a SS rear bumper.

Very similar story:
One month and a week after delivery, I was waiting for a traffic light to turn green when an old woman hit me from the back.

Long story short she paid out of her pocket $1200 to the dealer to install new fascia.

I received the car a week later, and during the day you can't tell a difference, but during the dusk or at night, you can tell that they bumper paint tone is more shiny than the rest of the vehicle. I complained to the dealer but couldn't get them to do anything about it. Althought they did tell me I "can't wax the car for 4 to 6 months, since the paint is still porus". <- Is this true??????

I am hoping in a few washes, the paint will match better. What do you guys think?
