Gas while shifting
no, not that kinda gas
How many of you slightly press the pedal when shifting gears to get smoother shifts?
With my previous car (a '97 Honda Prelude) it was almost a MUST do.
When I test drive an 04' Z it seemed like it wasnt needed as much.
So, who does/doesnt do it?

what I mean is this... with my prelude it would be:
1st gear...
- clutch in
- place into second
- tiny bit of gas while clutch is raising
- clutch completely out
ofcourse, all happens within half a second

By the alternative, do you mean in 1st gear:
- Press the clutch in completely
- Place it into second
- Let the clutch out completely
- Then start accelerating like normal?
When my friend was teaching me how to drive stick, he told me that you have to press the gas slightly while depressing the clutch otherwise it switches gears rough and wears down your gears. Is that not true?
so you're asking how many of us rev match? i find that the revs on the Z drop pretty slowly so there's no need to really pay too much attnetion to that ... i guess it really depends on how quickly you're going from one gear to the next --- i resume to "Gasing" when the clutch is about 90% in
when up shifting I dont give any gas, I shift quick enough that the RPMS fall into a close enough range that i dont need to blip it unless I coast in neutral or something.
when downshfting while braking heel toe method.
when downshifting w/o braking I give it gas while in process of pressing the clutch,

I reallised this morning that when I'm driving slowly and shifting at 4000 rpm, I do get back on the gaz when the clutch is almost fully out (90% like others here).
When driving harder and shifting at 7000 rpm it is not necessary. The engine drops to the correct rpm.
It's funny because Nissan advertise tha fast gear changing on the manual (says so in the vendor manual) but I find it pretty slow. Compared to my Subaru, the Nissan takes for ever to engage a new gar !
