Shifting at the track
What shifting sequence is optimum at the drag strip? Shifting 3 times to get up to 100mph just sounds a little rediculous. I was thinking like 1, 3, 4. Any ideas?

What is so hard to understand? Classical shifting (1st, 2nd, 3rd, etc)...Third gear won't even get you to 90mph. I guess I posted in the wrong forum.

Ther gear box is there to keep the engine runnign in it's peak power curve. Skip a gear and you will be way down in torque.

Cuz mine will cutoff just above 90 and I have a 7000 redline...

Dude I think you are so confused. If your NOT at the track sure you can skip gears to get oober gas milage at the expense of very little torque. But at the track you have to go sequential and redline each gear to keep your engine putting out max power.

I thought you were joking, but apparently you are serious?
As somebody says, try it and see how much the car feels like it's stuck in tar when you go to very far apart ratios. The car just won't pull down low in the RPM band like you'd be if you jumped a gear.
Not to be a d!ck but I cannot believe what this guy is asking and he has a 6mt Z !
Makes you think how he can afford the car or even drive it to its potential, obviously he doesnt know the difference between the shifter and the e-brake, damn
The only reason why I asked was because my dad used to go 1,3,5 at the track in his 89 Mustang GT and he was running low 13s. There's no need to get all over my back over a simple question.
