Before you bought your Z...
What if any other cars did you consider to buy other than the Z?
I have been bouncing back and forth for the last few months between getting the Z or a totally different car. I like both cars but for totally different reasons.
The other car is nothing like the Z at all, in fact it's an econo box in the <$20,000 bracket. I'm not going to bother to say what car it is because I will end up getting all of the rice this, rice that stuff even though that's not the case with that car. And no it's not a Honda either.
Anyway, I was just kinda curious what if any other cars you were thinking of buying, before you took the Z plunge? I know some were thinking of a Mustang GT. What about you?
Later.

I looked at a C5 Corvette, S2000, RX8, SLK320/32AMG (both used), SC430 (CPO) and G35C. I decided on either the 350Z or the G35C. I spent about a year looking around for the right car for me. I found a very nice SB 350Z I'm very happy with and have absolutely no regrets. It's a value for what you get IMHO compared to other sports cars out there.

Audi TT - bad vision, nervous feeling on the road, odd styling but nice transmission.
Chevy Corvette - too common, too old looking, too American but very powerful.
Porsche Carrera (used) and the Boxster S - too Porsche (I was afraid of getting robbed), too expensive, but the only rag top with a liner (duhh!).
Honda S2000 - no automatic, too much RPM, and a bit too small.
BMW M3 and the Z4 - didn't like the door styling, nervous ride too.

Acura RSX, which I was pretty set on... until I saw it in person. It was smaller than I thought it would be and a bit on the plain side. I liked it better in pictures. I just saw one the other day and was glad I didn't get it. Really glad. it just isn't the car for me (no offense to anyone who has one and likes it, just not right for me).
I also considered the Porsche Boxster, but I've owned various models of Porsches since I was 17 (bought a used 914 then, which I still miss). So since every car after that was a Porsche of some kind, I wanted to try something new. I still have a 911SC, but its replacement was the Z. I just haven't gotten around to selling it.

I drove my step-mom's Boxster S (albeit after I bought the Z), it is very awkward to drive for a 6'0" guy with size 12 feet. The pedals feel very close together. Plus, that sucker needs a short shifter BADLY, the throw feels like 28 inches.
The mid-engine thing is nice though, it handles like a beast. If I was 6" shorter with size 9-10 feet, it would probably be fun to drive.

2005 Chrysler 300c and 2005 GTO with the 400hp LS2....I test drove one and they are BEASTS! I just couldn't get over the bland styling though. I'm happy with my Z. Maybe someday it will be able to smoke an LS2. After Thousands and thousands of dollars. I didn't buy the Z because of it's performance. The car as a whole is what sold me. It does everything very well.
