If he is refering to your car, its well broken in. Usually people say give the car ABOUT 2500 miles before you redline etc and then after that your car has been "broken in." For you, 10k it should be well broken in by now.

10K car not being broken in? I dunno man...
I wish I can tell you the answer but I'm pretty new to this break-in period thing.
I've always thought you judge it by the number of mileage you have on the car,
e.g. if you're car has reached 1500miles+ it's broken in...but it seems it doesn't work like that hahaha.
But as for 10K miles car I say it's definitely broke in???
Can anyone tell us how you can tell the car's broken in???

from oil reports and dynos, the VQ *can* take up to 10K to fully break in.. but almost everyone is fully broken in by 5K, making the most HP and metal wear settled in. It seems the older VQ30 took alittle longer than the VQ35, perhaps thats what your friend is referring to. Certainly, Nissan still take much more time than Honda or Toyota, they are really broken in near 1K. But thats apples and oranges. I'll take a torquey VQ anyday.
