Surely someone can come up with something very clever that could keep us from smashing the lower part of our front bumpers (or, worse yet) lower lips into those nasty concrete “curbs” in parking lots.

Has anybody given this any thought? Heck, I’m pretty terrible at knowing exactly where the front of the car is (!)… maybe I just need a “spotter” to get out and say “whoa” when I’m getting close to doing some damage.

A workable solution that everyone could afford seems like a good business opportunity to me!

I'm thinking about putting a camera up there and connecting it to the AV input that I've got my iPod connected to.

I think it would be wicked watching the road go by from near ground level too! The camera would have to be weather proof and a bit rugged but that's easy enough to accomplish.

I sell parking sensor systems. It can be either done through small lcd screens or a replacement for your rearview mirror. It tells you the distance left till you hit an object.

Why spend that much money on something when you can easily make your own DIY kit.

At first people will think you're weird but once they figure out what it does they will envy you and think you're the smartest person ever for coming up with such a hot idea!

All it takes is a metal rod, string, tennis ball, cow bell, and box to mount it on. oh and some miror things like drill bits for mounting it on your hood.

what would be nice is if there was some sort of sensor that you could mount to
your bumper and have it increase the flash rate of an LED inside your Z as you
get closer along with showing an approximate distance from the curb. i know there
are some systems that make an audible beep but do they show distance?

Now THAT'S a cool idea. If you ever do find a worthy enough camera, let me know!

Nissan should install a red piece of chalk on all Z bumpers. Then we can all tell where you have been and avoid it

I have a camera mounted in the grille. This seems to be working out pretty good..have'nt hit since. I think it was $29 off ebay.
Here's a picture of it.

This is just a back-up camera(search on ebay for Backup Camera). The only problem was that the image was reversed. I run the image thru my DVD player reverse image option and it corrects it. I use a basic switch box to go from front cam, back cam, and dvd. Also, I mounted a power switch for the cams in this switch box which makes it easy and fast to turn them on.

Its painted silver because I was going to flush mount it under the front bumper but I just could'nt bring myself to cut a hole in the car...what was I thinking. The cam it strapped to the front mesh grill mounting bracket. The image thru the grille is very clear. The camera has been mounted for 3 or 4 months and I haven't had any issues.

just angle your car when going over bumps or dips.
vette/camaro/firebird owners live by that technique...
