Default 3 weeks since accident

A quick vent to fellow Z owners. After owning my new yellow ZR for only 2 weeks my wife and I were in a pretty good accident because the other driver never even saw us coming. We were banged up pretty good and the dealership estimated 17k in damage. Its now 3 weeks later and all the service department is telling me is that they keep finding more.....hmmm 3 weeks to take it apart and still finding more....glad my car is such a priority. "I cant give you a date when it will be ready because I wouldnt want you to hold me to it".

I am really put out by all this, I have never seen such poor service in my life and coming from an IS300 this is no picnic. Do I call the Manager? Do I complain? or do I let them continue to take their time after all whats a month or two.....

Very Frustrated!!!!!

I feel your pain, I just got rearend tuesday night and i too want to get it fix right now. I am dreding the fact that ist going to take weeks to fix. I should claim mentail anguesh and pain for the time lost with out my baby.

You should call the manager and enquire why it is taking so long, wait tell he gives you a line of bull, then say im going to call my ins. company and complain that its taking to long.

Look at it another way... at least they're (hopefully) carefully inspecting the car to make sure everything that was damaged will get fixed. I could take a month + to get it back. But the waiting sucks, especially since its new. Bummer.

sorry to hear about your situation...I do hope you have rental reimbursement coverage at least or a vehicle provided by the dealership for now. to be honest with $17k+ damage on a brand new veh, I probably would've asked the ins co to just total the veh and pay you out b/c now your resale value just took a huge dump. when you do get around to selling the Z your potential buyers will take a look at the large accident on the vehicles carfax history and either lowball you or steer clear. and no matter how many things the dealer/repair shops fixes, the car may never be the same. with a large impact accident like that you may end up dealing with with one small thing after another later on which you won't be able to get any money out of the ins co for if the claim is already closed. I guess the best advice I can give is to try to get the ins co to total out the veh and if they won't then let the dealership take their sweet a$$ time as long as they replace, retorque and check every damn thing that could be affected.

good thing about my ins. co is that if i get it fixed at the place they have on there list, doesnt matter how long down the road if something happens to the repair it is cover 100% even if i move to different state. Yep your right the resale is going to take dump.

Unfortunately, I discovered the hard way that Nissan gets in NO hurry to repair Z's. I was rearended on July 3 last year to tune of about $9000 in damage. I didn't get my car back until September. They kept telling me that the problem lies in the fact that Z's are still manufactured in Japan and take longer to get the parts imported. I think this is a joke but there's not much good in complaining to management(believe me...I tried). Another thing to check is to see if your state participates in Diminished Value. If so, you might be entitled to a payout for the loss of value your car will sustain because of the damage. It's worth a shot. I ended up getting a $1500-1600 check out of the whole thing because the guy that plowed into me wasnt insured. Check it out, man. I can't remember the specifics but you might get a little kickback. Good luck.

Dam they kept your Z while they ordered the parts. My Ins. co told me that they will order the parts need to fix it, then call me up to bring it in to start the repairs.

Mmm ill have to ask about the Diminished value.

One piece of good news is that the dealership "moved things around" to get my car put on the frame puller(At their Buick Dealershp), a week early. They even called me to inform me of the fact. They also said that they will have someone work on it Saturday if its not finished so that it can be brought back to the body shop.

Resale value......ouch, hopefully if I get another Z the dealership will take care of me.

Man with all of that damage why do they not just total it out and pay for another car. In NC if its damage is over a certain percentage of the cars worth then they total it. $17g's seems to be close to over 50%. I would definitely check with the insurance company.

Oh forgot to ask, dont forget to ask for depreciation value from their insurance company. You are entitled to the amount that the wreck depreciates your car. You can never say its never been wrecked and with the amount of damage your car has, it will definitely be depreciated no matter how well they fix it. Good luck.

Yeah doesnt matter how good the repair is, in this day in age, they have carfax and it is now a perment record that it was damage and now it has dimishies the value of the car. Have the insurance company pay the differance if they dont, get a lawyer. In fact that is one of my question im going to ask when my insurance company calls me, Hopefull today.

Good for you..make sure you ask them about "Depreciation Value". i know when I was involved in a wreck with my Durango when someone pulled out in front of me, I got about a grand for the depreciation value. Still the SUV never drove the same.

how much damage was done to your durango?
Mine drives just fine even with the damage, most of it was bumper, side panel and floor trunk, exhaust. I can see if it damage the frame, driveline or the suspension parts, the strut bar. If it did, i would have to tell them write it off as a total, because i dont want it back from repair and not drive the same. But ill have to wait tell i get it looked at to see how much damage is done.

Ok i got my repair quote the other day, starting cost is about 4,200 thats encluding the new exhuast. And about 3 weeks give or take. I might be in luck as my car frame may be ok. i know my car drives and handles the same as before and have not noticed any difference it even still drives straight. But they are going to put it on a frame set machine and check it to make sure that it is ok, same with all the wheel alignments.

When they have my car ill be stopping two to three times a week to visit her(my baby is a girl, hot and sweet) Anyways ill keep you all updated on my baby.

Here's my experience:

Got into a pretty good accident on the first week of March, had the Z towed to dealership body shop 2 days after. They had the car put into the shop and get in line for repair. Long story short, the Z was initially quoted for 12k in damage, and body shop said it's fixable. After going back and forth to the body shop every 3-4 days for 2 months, the Z wasn't even touched and the body shop still pulling off some bs to me. Keep in mind that my rental coverage went out in the first month, and the Z is my only car. I had to pay out of pocket to rent a car just to get to the body shop and **** them.
I can't stand how bad the body shop treated me and thought i was a fool. I knew what everything will take to get done because my family runs a body shop back home in asia.
Things had become to a level that I can't stand anymore, I went to the body shop one day, pull out the manager who's 6'5" tall, yelled at him and makes him looked like a sorry as loser and he almost cried out from his eyes. I told him to have the car totaled so I don't have to deal with this shiat anymore.

4 months later, I got my check from insurance finally for totaling the car.

Sorry for the long post, I understand your fustration because I suffered that before as well. THings will eventually work out (As i was always been told)

I doubt if that would work, I called the BBB and filed a complaint against the body shop. And it didn't help one bit. It still worth a try though.
