can anyone confirm 2004 info??
Another forum post states that the 2004 Z will have a sunroof, rear window antenna and more HP - - is this true or is it more likely somebody talking out of their butt?? Thanks
Maybe I shouldn't have said confirm - - any of you dealers heard any of this??If it's true are the dealers worried that some of us that haven't recieved our cars yet may back out and wait for 2004??
I could see that they might have some running changes. The G35 had some things changed - the rear - for a 2003.5 model. I'm not sure a sunroof OR more horsepower will be on the way. I could see them moving to a in-window antenna - not too much overhead in changing the rear fender mold/press.
Horsepower probably won't be bumped until the Supra is out. If you follow the current Nissan trends the horsepower gets bumped whenever a major competitor comes out with similar HP. Example: Altima - 240hp ----> New Accord - 240hp -----> Altima - 245hp. =)
I just don't see a sunroof working on the Z. I'm not saying it couldn't be done, but would probably be a targa or ttops over anything else. But... well.... Nissan could work on it.

It would be nice if it were true, but no sunroof is planned or coming.
Horsepower wise, there will be a change but you won't see it until 2005 and it will NOT be across the board. It will be in one model that will be offered in 2005. I should say, is scheduled to be offered in 2005. (in other words, we should see it in 2004 as a 2005 model) cough cough TT cough cough
Odd that it coincides with the new Supra Turbo huh? cough cough planned all along cough cough
Antenna wise, that's hopes and dreams.
Nothing has been said indicating Nissan had an issue with the antenna as it is, so I wouldn't be holding my breathe watching for a rear window antenna but like I said, hopes and dreams.
One last thing regarding dealers, they mean well but usually they are the last to know things. It's unfortunate, and many dealers that visit this site can confirm this. Heck, a lot of them come here to learn things!
We're happy we could help guys, now can ya cut us a deal on the, cough cough TT cough cough, when it hits?

I doubt that there will be a rear window antenna anytime soon. The main reason why: The rear wiper.
My friend has an older range rover where the antenna is printed glass in the front windshield. He had a mast antenna installed because whenever the wipers were on the radio reception would fade with their movement. The motion of the wiper going across the window was enough to mess with the radio reception. Odds are this is why the antenna was not printed into the rear glass on the z.
I could be wrong...but it makes sense to me.

Maybe thats why the GT-R will be an Infiniti. Nissan/Infiniti is an interesting little bond, as Nissan is still searching for its brand identity and infiniti just needs to sell some cars. Nissan really needs an arm twisting to make a car thats deliberatly less appealing performance/design wise than an Infiniti....so if the GT-R comes as an Infiniti, its VERY liekyl that they will have TT Z.
Nissan might just do what i did with the antenna....get a smaller one. It make a world of difference.

Interesting about the rear window antenna... It makes sense that having the wiper blade running over the window would cause distortion.
I still don't understand why nissan would make a 45k 350Z TT if the GTR is coming to out shores(granted it will probably be 50-60k) b/c it has a GREAT chance of cutting into sales somewhere. Just doesn't look like they're going that route.

I still would doubt that nissan will release the r35 as a infinity. BTW the G35 is a skyline release under the infinity mark. But Nissan has already said r35 will be hitting world market under their name.
Are you sure it will be a Nissan. Not doubting you one bit but it seems much more practical to realease it as an Infiniti as much as it may **** of the purists. having the 400hp GT-r and a TT Z if Jays correct) in the same dealer lot wouldn't make much sense. I understand the GT-R will be more limited and hav better handling/driving charactereistic, but still....

From everything I have heard and been told, the GT-R will be released under Infiniti, not Nissan. Price wise, expect $60,000 ballpark. If Nissan has pubilcly said it'd wear the Nissan badge, someone might want to tell Nissan because I asked them point blank and I was told it'd be a Infiniti. To be fair, the person I asked might have been "out of the loop".
The TT 350Z will be in the area of $36,000 + options so they are still not really competing with one another. Performance wise, expect 350hp from the TT and 400-450 from the GT-R.
A great deal is still being worked out, but in November 2003, the GT-R will make it's debut in Tokyo. I am pretty sure I can get my hands on some photos long before then, but most like not until the summer as they are still fine tuning the final design, suspension and engine options.
There have been so many things said about this car that I haven't posted because I'll get one email saying stuff, and then I get another email inside ten hours saying the first one was wrong and the they are using this suspension or tranny instead etc. I now have two "spies" in Japan and they work in different areas of Nissan so when one sends me something, I send it off to the other for confirmation.
Works quite well so far. I'll keep ya posted but make no mistake, the GT-R will be a MONSTER of a car.
I sort of chuckle with the amount of people posting that they're going to wait and get the GT-R. I am not sure they understand the difference between financing a 350Z and financing a GT-R. $26-$34,000 car versus $60,000+ is a wee bit different.

So you are saying that in 2 years people will be driving a tt 350z making 350 or so hp? 36,000? Seeing that the track costs say, 34,000 that gives nissan 2k to play with. Now I know that since nissan is a OEM so they can get/sell turbos and plumbing for a considerbale amount less the aftermarket would, but this seems like a little amount of money to add a TT. Maybe 38,000+. Thats just my opinion, and I'm not the one with a few spies in Nissan.
This pisses me off though. And I am sure it pisses some other people off too. I hate how modern car companies come out with the weakest version of the car first and then give the more powerful version later (read: BMW). Ugh.
