This is what happens when a towtruck rear ends.......
my 350Z,

I was driving about 10 miles an hour after the light went green at an intersection, a van in front of me slowed down because of traffic ahead. I slowed down, the idiot tow truck behind me wasn't paying attention. I looked in the rear view mirror as I slowed down and BOOOOM! I go flying into the van, BOOM, and then the tow truck hits me again BOOM! (since he never applied the breaks). One month later, ~$13,000 in damages to my car. Tow truck 0, van in front of me - slight paint chip on the rear bumper.
drive safe people, dumbasses are everywhere

I was 5 blocks away from work! This was a sunday, father's day. It was a crazy day, the tow truck that hit me was CityWide Co. The same company towed me 5 hours later, the driver said some dumbass sideswipped his truck earlier that day.

I made sure to add that, the cop got the police report all wrong saying I hit the van first. But if I hit the van first I'd have more damage in the front and so would the van. I think that the brakes on a 350Z are better than on a Honda van so I'd have plenty of time to stop and have some room in the front. When the police officer called she was giving me **** saying how I'm trying to change this and that and that she'll make a report of it. Cops never change the police reports because if they do it raises a red flag with their superior and they'll get **** from their superior. I think if they change 3 reports in the their entire career, they're done. I wish my cop friends weren't retired, the only way to persuade the NYPD to do or change anything to know someone on the inside.

Insurance companies or the police reports never put fault on anyone even if it was the other party's fault. The cops don't want to change the police reports - since it reflects on their career and makes them seem incompetent. So all police reports will be generalized and in most cases wrong.
My disposable camera saved me though, so I suggest that you all have one just in case this sort of **** happens.
But the blame is obviously on the towtruck. The driver's insurance was some what of a problem. Either he had no insurance which isn't possible since its a towing company (and they gotta have liability coverage of atleast $100,000, I'm thinking close to $250,000), or he just started working for the company and the papers were still being processed. In any case, my insurance company knows that the liability of a business commercial vehicle has enough money to cover the damages to my car and everything else. I didn't spend a dime to fix the car (I think the deductable will be also reimbursed since none of this was my fault). All the money I spent at the hospital and to tow the car back to my house is also going to be covered. But the damages are about 13000

That does suck. Did the van's insurance go after you? Since the police report said you first rear ended the van (which was wrong) I wonder if the van went after you. As stated, glad you didn't have to pay a dime.

man that sucks. I was in a semi-similar situation, being the cop wrote down the wrong thing on the police report, and both I and the driver who sideswiped me knew that I wasn`t at fault.
I threatened to call the police station and complain, and so he changed it.

Sorry to see/hear that. The way people drive in NY is enough to make someone insane. I actually know that spot where you got hit. Drivers on cell phones....or just flying at a high rate of speed when its obvious they have to stop or slow down. Gotta love it here. Makes me nervous when I buy my Z next month.

The guy in the van just wanted to leave, he had a minor scratch that would cost him less than $200 to fix, he probably didn't even want to go through the insurance since he'd have to put up atleast $500 for the deductable, and if his deductable is less than that then he's an idiot for paying a high premium on a van
