It's usually about a month...but it's been almost a month already.

3 weeks. I'd call your dealer if I were you...The temp tags only last a month, right?

Do we get them in the mail or do the dealership get them?

Ok, since nobody came forward to help me, I called my dealer. They told me they are backed up and will take from 8 to 12 weeks.

However, I got a ticket a week ago and I got written up for NOT HAVING PLATES!!! I told the stupid cop that it's a brand new car, and I don't have the plates yet.

He probably just jealous...

Get another temporary plate from the dealer. I'd try to get the dealer to pay for the ticket too.

Well, as much as I'd like to get someone else to pay for my tickets, I don't think the dealer had anything to do with that. It's more the DMV's fault.

However, there is no $ fine... it's is just a correction thing, but it takes away my time and is just a hassle. I will fight it and make the cop my biatch!

Give 'em hell. Don't they have anything better to do all day but hand out stupid tickets like this.

Where was your temp sticker that the dealer puts in the window? I didn't leave mine on the window but kept mine in one of the rear cubby holes.

It has been 6 weeks for me and still no plates. My cardboard temp tags are shot. Two numbers, or were they letters? Gone. Dealer said they are working on it pronto.

Plus side? Ran a camera red light, i will not be seeing a ticket. Cant read the plate.

I can't believe the crap the DMV makes you go through. Over here we walk into the licensing center and leave with plates 5 minutes later. Go to dealer and put them on the car and drive away.

I feel sorry for you guys. I used to live in California -- the DMV there is the most evil of them all.

Why must it be this way?

Doesn't sound legal to me. Not even the cop is supposed to remove it until the plates are put on. Did he give it back to you? I know it's only a "fix-it" ticket and no court time but if I had the time I'd want to make a point. Make sure you record the date you receive the plates.

Yea he gave it back to me, of course.

Yep, there is no court time since it's a "fix-it" but I am going to go to court anyhow and fight it... try to get the cop a warning or some other consequence for being stupid.
