Default Body Color Headlight Housings??

What do you all think about body colored headlight housings on the Z. I wonder if it would look as good as the new C6 corvettes or just look lame. I think someone should photoshop a pic of a Z to see.

There are many Z's who have gone that route. Look around.
I know boogiemyke (I think that's his SN) over on motoring does them (he's prob a member here too.)

They do look good. I just painted mine black because I wanted the blacked out look. However the paint cracked and I have to go back to the shop for them to repaint them with a better hi-heat paint.

what i dont like is that the housing cant be completly painted, there is a section that has to be left chromed, so that the light reflects. It would look good if the complete housing could be painted.

Not necessarily true.

I painted my reflectors. And to be able to do this, all you have to do is buy some aftermarket HID's like I did.

If you look close at the stock bulbs they should have a little cap at the top of them. This cap helps to reflect the light pointing forward, backward into the reflector. Aftermarket HID's will not have this cap and point all light forward. In fact, installing aftermaket HID's while keeping the reflectors will blind oncomming traffic because the light coming out the sides of the HID will be reflected off the reflector at odd angles, blinding traffic (the reflector is made for the stock bulbs...and the stock beam pattern.)

So...you should get HID's and in order not to blind oncoming traffic, you should paint the entire headlight housing, reflector and all, the color of your car....or black, because black is always good.

Just remember to use high heat paint because that's why mine have to be repainted.

I would love too...except I don't have them developed yet. When I do, I'll put them up. However when I had them painted, the painter refused to do the lo-beam housing (the part that holds the lens)...for fear of ruining the lense when taping it up. I've since been told that the lens is removable so next weekend (fingers crossed) I'm going back to have them repaint the reflectors and paint the low beam housing...so everything will be black.

I also bought some Evo silver turn signals to get rid of the amber bulbs (they flash amber though), smoked the amber reflector strip with VHT nightshades, and picked up some PIAA 168 xtreme white bulbs so the color of my parking lights would better match the HID's.

So...finished product is an entire black housing except for the bulbs (turn signal, high beam, and parking light) and lo-beam lense.

Again, whenever I get pics back I'll post them, but they did come out looking pretty good (besides where the paint cracked of course.)
