Default A Little Help From Enthusiast Owners

Guys,

I've been reading some post concerning launching the Z. Some people have been advising members to try launching with TCS turned on to eliminate tire spin. My question is: isn't the TCS already on when you first start the vehicle? Can it be set to not come on each time you start the engine or does it automatically default to on?

Thanks in advance for any input you can provide.

The TCS does reset to on every time you start the car.

I don't see the benefit in leaving it on if you are trying for the best possible lauch. If you floor it, the TCS will bog down the car momentarily. IMO best lauch will be achieved with clutch dropped at 2500-3000 rpm.

I agree on all counts, the TCS is good to leave on during street driving to avoid problems but during racing or autox I would take it off as it is very intusive and slows you down when it kicks in, which if you are doing autox it will be kicking in all the time and during 1/4 it will slow you down at launch and maybe even 1-2 shift.

i have auto trans, but my rear end broke lose under hard throttle on the 2-3 shift. scared the crap out of me b/c there were other cars around me at the time. the TCS reeled it back in tho. needless to say i leave it on at all times unless i'm launching.

Default Thanks For The Info

Guys,

I really appreciate the responses. I've had to re-introduce myself to driving a manual transmission after 10 years of driving automatics and I'm really trying to get the best performance out of this incredible machine.

I have been truly surprised at my reactions sometimes when driving this car. Totally freaky. I LOVE THIS CAR! It's like man...at one...with his driving machine.... <grrrh> You guys know what I mean. ;-)

It is actually on the left side on the dash, not the steering column. The only controls on the steering column are the signals, lights/brights and wiper controls.
