Default stock alarm

someone broke into my 350, they pulled up the drivers door handle. Is their any way to reset the alarm, so the windows stay up when I lock the car?

They don't stay up???? Something is wrong there. They should close tight when you close the door and not move when you lock it.

If you press the unlock button for 3 seconds, or something like that, the windows will roll all the way down.

Crazyg, I'm pretty sure you have the same issue us G35's have with them being able to somehow dig behind the door handle, and mess with the linkage. When they mess with the linkage, they can make the key cylinder think someone is putting a key in the cylinder to lower the window, hence, the window lowers (Thanks Nissan/Infiniti), they can they get in your car. You need to add "aftermarket features" (shock sensors, motion sensors) to your alarm, because the alarm is officialy "disarmed" once the doors are unlocked. Sucks! If you search around there are people that are completely disabling the key-window roll-up/down. Its a shame that people can't keep anything nice, but sooner or later (maybe sooner) someone will catch a hot one in the head for trying to break in!!

I woke up this morning and took my car to work, where I have my tool box. Turns out that behind the cylinder their is a little round plastic servo, it was taken off the cylinder.. I tought Clark NJ was a nice town... now I gotta have the door painted. Well at least when they paint the door Ill give them the wing to paint. How would I disable the window ub/down function? Thanks for the info

You can cut the wire that runs between the door lock cylinder and the power window module in the door. There are actually two wires that run between, one for lock/arm, and one for unlock/disarm.

If you cut the unlock/disarm wire you will NOT be able to lower the windows from the key cylinder, which would have kept your car from being broken in to.

The side effect though, is that if you ever lose/break your keyfob you won't be able to disarm the oem alarm! I have always considered hiding a small pushbutton on the inside of the door, like in the storage compartment and hooking the unlock/disarm wire up to it. That way, you can mechanically unlock the door through the cylinder, but you would have to push the button on the INSIDE of the door before the alarm would shut off/windows would go down.

Any aftermarket alarms that are recommended? Something that will kill the car if stolen so it is rendered undriveable? Something with a remote that will notify me of a break in?

Any idea what wire I need to cut (color) and if this will affect how the remote opens and closes the windows?

The sad part is, even if I disable this feature, they will still wreck the paint and handle before they find out it does not work. Bastards.

Doesn't the alarm turn off when you turn the key in the ignition too?

I've always been a big fan of Viper alarms (especially one way versions). I have never really liked two ways because they are too fragile for my lifestyle.

There is really no way to 'render a car undrivable' that a car thief can't reverse. If a thief is smart enough to get in and hot wire a car a simple starter kill / ignition kill relay isn't going to slow him down much. The two way remotes will beep if the alarm goes off, but only if you are within range of the remote.

I don't know the color off the top of my head, its in the service manual. The wire is ONLY used to disarm the system, roll the windows down, and unlock the passenger door/fuel door THROUGH THE DRIVERS KEY CYLINDER. All remote activitly will remain like stock. The alarm will only turn off with the key IF the alarm isn't going off. If the alarm is triggered you can NOT silence it by turning the key in the ignition cylinder (at least not on my 04 G35 coupe).

To find the wire:

Pop your drivers door power window finisher off (Pulls up). Find the big harness that goes in the switch. Find a wire that reads 5vdc normally, and then goes to 0vdc when you turn and hold your key in the drivers door key cylinder to the unlock position. Cut this wire, and tape both ends. The car doesn't supervise this wire, so it will have no idea that you cut it. Everything else will work as normal, with the exception of the things I listed above.
