Save your money and invest it in something that will make you money instead of spending it on add ons.

Default Finance Advice

Thanks to the folks that have offered the financial advice. Fortunately, I am finally in a place in my life I can spend some money on "fun" stuff. My investment portfolio is significantly diversified so I am ready to waste a little.

No, I am not posing to be rich or very well off, but in a position to spend a little on my new "hobby."

In this forum I much appreciate the info on mod/upgrade ideas.

+1, I couldnt have said it myself better. Max your contribution to IRA for the year and then left over for fun.

Got Ruff wheels/Toyo tires, and Tein basic coilovers including installation...$3k. Sway bars probably next!

If your car is an everyday car, save the 3K and put it in the bank. Who knows, you might use it on a downpayment on another car. We all have to enjoy life, but at some point you've got to keep some for, just in case....

It's been said many times in the thread already... but wait a bit longer, save a bit more and get the FI mod of choice (ST, TT or SC). I ordered the Supercharger the day I picked up my Z, had it professionally installed and tuned and couldn't be happier.

Good luck...

$3K? Then ya gotta make a decision...appearance or performance. Within your budget:

Appearance biggest impact = Wheels, then body kit or suspension kit.

Performance biggest impact = Intake and exhaust. Depending on what you buy you might even have some left over for a suspension kit. Remember, handling is performance just as much as higher HP and speed.

I"d say driving school, then maybe a couple of track days. After you learn to get some of the potential out of the car, I'd then do suspension.

If you're just in for looks, then wheels for sure, but suspension before wheels IMO.

I would love to hear some experience based opinions on what to do with $3K on a stock touring.
Some guidelines:
1. I don't want to void the warranty.
2. I am not very experienced in the modification, mechanical or racing world.
3. I would appreciate setting my z apart with physical appearance enhancements (front end)
4. I have some ideas: tinting the windows (with a cool looking, not guady, color tint) a radar detector that i can put the sensor in the front and rear and have the "unit" in the place the nav. system would be, a performance computer that reports hp, 1/4 and 0-60. (I escort makes one??),

Thanks for your ideas. I don't have money sitting around so I want to make the best decisions and I believe the folks on this site can provide some great ideas!

$3k... IMO as a designer, buy yourself some new wheels. Some nice ...w i d e... wheels. Wheels speak performance and the wider the better. Not to many people are going to notice your CF lip or custom front end that amplifies the fact that you don't have a big shiny radiator because you don't have FI. LOL! Anyway, the rims/tires will be a big enough purchase if you get some decent ones. I spent 3.5k on my setup and couldn't be happier with all the thumbs up and stares Wheels are the BBB as far as visually changing the Z!!

Don't spend the money on engine altering performance parts... you won't get a substantial return and you will void your warranty one way or another.

For those that gave you the financial advice, their right, investing wisely is the smart thing to do. But you seem to be on top of your finances, so live it up a little because you never know

$1900- 19" Volk SF Winnings (For sale in classifieds of this forum)
$900- Nismo Exhaust (The best sound IMO)
$51- Clear side markers
$11- Nismo sticker on rear right of hatch
$51- Nismo Floor Mats

Total of $2913 and you will be transformed into a tasteful Nismo Z with $87 left to get one fill up of gas at $4.00 a gallon!!
