CANADA - Let's take action and get the Bose fix
FYI the TSB has been issued in Canada, I was shown the french version last Monday.
After faxing a letter to Nissan Canada (905-629-9742) on January 2 to complain about the audio system, they answered my letter on the 9th saying that “some new information has been communicated to the dealer body” and sent a copy to my dealer.
On Monday I went to the dealer and they performed the required tests which resulted in a new amp being ordered from Vancouver.
I get the replacement installed next Wednesday.
P.S. Even though Nissan’s reply is dated 1/9/03 I received it in the mail on 1/27/03 and that after calling 3 times to customer service asking for a reply to my fax so don’t be surprised if the “information” hasn’t reached all the dealers yet. THE SQUEAKY WHEEL GETS THE GREASE!!!

BTW, IT'S MY DRIVER SIDE WINDOW THAT GETS THE GREASE.
Got the amp replacement yesterday. When I first listened to the sound I was pleased to hear the bass over boost was gone but was only slightly impressed by the over all sound quality.
Because we got a ton of snow on Tuesday and because I was without my Z all day Wednesday I hadn’t driven much in two days so I drove around for about an hour and a half while listening to the six same CDs that have been in my car since October. The more I listened the more I noticed a considerable difference in the sound I had become used to. The difference is especially noticeable at high volume. I would say my initial opinion went from an improvement of 25% to that of about 50% . The all-round sound is still not outstanding compared to some cars but overall I’m happy with the new sound.
Conclusion, hound your dealer until they perform the change because it’s worth the difference.
