Default Help with video camera mount

I would love to mount a camera in my 350z without too many mods, do not want to mess it up. Going to take it to Summit point and they want it secure. Anyone have any ideas. I have a compact video camera as well as a "lipstick" cam! Any help or pics =would be great

Velcro the lipstick cam to your helmet and either put the video camera in your glovebox or make the home depot headrest camera mount.

Do a search, this topic was discussed a few months ago. I thought the best idea was using some kind of pipe... like a PVC, and mounting the camera to the pipe, then
drilling holes in the pipe so the headrest slides through the PVC pipe and secures it to the passenger seat. Not sure if that will be allowed but it sounds cheap.

yup, I bought a camera mount that mounts onto the headrest of the passenger seat. It was only $40, made of metal, and is really good quality. There's a thread on it if you here somewhere. It's called the "cruisecam" mount.

I saw a camera mount just like yours on my buddies car, its really nice! Seemed really heavy duty and worked really well.

i've been drifting, road course racing, and messing around and its held my Sony MiniDV cam perfectly

Plenty of options on www.chasecam.com

Also, do a search for RAM Mounts. They make GPS attachements but also have a standard camera screw mount.

here is mine home-made mount ($15 in materials):

and here is simplified version (photoshop):

It's aluminum pipe from Home Depot, with black vinyl tybe on top of it (same store).
because it doesn't have usual long unsupported arm, it's very steady and don't vibrate. Of course you can't have passenger with it. I use it for racing only.

I am going to have an instructor with me some of the time, anyone mount it to the rear bar behind the seats, Remember I have the lipstick cam as well. Those are some really good ideas. I am working on something right now.

the only reason why i dislike Seat mounted cameras is because the seat moves/ vibrates WAY too much. you're mounting a 5 pound camera on the very top of a pivoting platform, your acceleration/braking will just make the seat wiggle with all that weight up top, even if its a power seat with a restrictive motor- uness you're tying down that seat to prevent further movement, you're gonna get some jittery ness in the video.

you might wanna try http://www.stickypod.com...

or get a rollbar if your gonna do more track events and get the camera mount i have ..
