Default Interior wear

Had my Z from new, now 5 months old with 7k. Very disappointed in the finish of the interior - the metal trims either side of the horn/airbag on the steering wheel are showing wear (finish/coating coming off), the leather on the shift **** shows wear, the plastic coating on the driver door control panel is scratching off.

Should this be happening in a new $30k+ car?

No, I don't see how this stuff is wearing unless you are scratching or constantly touching these parts. I have an 03 and I have no wear showing at all. If you are having that much trouble I would take it to the dealership and see what they can do. Good luck!

You're just one of those people who is hard on their car I'm affraid. The interior is basically the same from 03 to 05. Mine looks like new and I have 30k miles on it & drive it every single day.

I drive every day and park in the sun (using an autoshade) and my interior looks new still. Did you use armor all and then stop suddenly? I heard that stuff dries out your interior if you stop using it. Use Meguiar's interior detail mist, with no oily residue. that stuff works great.

Please answer no to that question. That stuff will KILL your interior. I use it for detailing the engine area ONLY!.

I am using Meguiar's leather cleaner and conditioner on my seats... anybody have any other recommendations as to keeping the interior clean?

I know I take great pains to enter and exit the car without crushing or rubbing against the leather seat bolsters.

I don't think it matters as long as you're using the right type of product for the material you're trying to keep clean and protect.

I use Zaino leather products on my entire interior (even the vinyl). I don't use it on the silver trim (usually just a damp MF cloth from my wash bucket mixed with the Zaino car wash).
