I'm about to purchase an 03'. I have basically narrowed my choices down to two cars, both touring models, one with an auto, the other a stick. Personally I prefer the stick but the auto shifts so smooth that I would be happy with it as well.

The stick has 30k miles and the auto has 42k miles. Both cars are priced almost the same. The higher mileage car does come with an extended warrenty good until Dec of 07 or 100,000 miles. The stick car has the remainder of the factory warranty (I believe). The stick car also has the stability control whereas the auto does not. The auto car is blue with grey leather and the stick is orange with matching leather. I have no color preference over either, I like them both.

Which car would you guys chose? Is there any other issues I need to be aware of besides the tire recall?

personally i would take the maual, mainly because sports car=manual. oh and the lemans sunset looks awesome

well, if u want to be taken seriously by any car enthusiast, go with the manual. if u want to enjoy the Z's performance to the max, get the manual. if u enjoy the feel of slapping it in first and hearing the tires scream for traction, get the manual. however, if u want to have a car that your girlfriend will want to drive on the weekends because it's "cute", then go ahead and get the auto.

 

Actually I'm a pretty good enthusiast when it comes to driving, having owned and raced a Shelby Cobra replica in the past. My wife hates the idea of an auto as she likes to shift as well. Normally I would never consider an automatic in a sports car, but I was impressed with the Z's auto. I made an offer on the stick so we'll see what happens.

Surprisingly, nobody has said anything about the extended warrenty. I'm guessing that the quality of these cars are so good that it isn't really an issue? Years ago we bought my wife a Nissan and it was a pretty good car. I'm hoping for the same with the Z.

Good quality, but I still bought the extended warranty.

That being said, if car is past it's warranty, you can perform modifications to your ride without guilt. No warranty to void.

 

Given that you & your wife enjoy driving a stick, it seems an easy choice: get the Lemans Sunset (orange) Zzzz. It has 12,000 fewer miles & is a "slick" color.

Don't know what to say about the lack of an extended warrenty. Maybe you should check on the cost of it for the Lemans Sunset.

Having said the above (and being the owner of an 03 with no problems other than minor feathering), I would tend to look for an 04 just to lower the probability of problems.

 

Thanks guys. I pulled the trigger and am buying the Lemans Sunset. I'm a young 55 and not ready to get an automatic in a sports car no matter how good it is.

very nice! If you are concerned about the warranty, you can always buy an extended warranty up until the regular factory warranty expires. And there are third party warranters (?) out there that may be cheaper than a Nissan one (but it would still get fixed by Nissan). Just be sure to read the fine print, and make sure you know what is and is NOT covered.
