Default just wonderin...

anyone ever take off the hatch and drive without it *obviously on a sunny day*. Just wondering how it would look and feel. HAHAHA. I ask because there is a picture on the net somewhere of a yellow celica (prototype) that has removed the hatch and put seats there and head rests on the rear spoiler. Basically..only can be driven on a sunny day because well..rain would floor the car.

Sounds like a huge PITA, people would sure stare wayyyyyyy more than they already do, which is a lot in my experience.....Everytime I'm at a light and look around I got like 4 or 5 people staring right at me.

Not to mention the fact that it would probably be illegal (no proper restraints), compromise the rigidity of the car, and potentially expose you to carbon monoxide fumes. I think I'll keep the hatch on!

Ok, I may be reaching just a tad, but that's why they tell SUV owners never to drive with the back hatch/window open. The turbulence behind the car can actually force exhaust gases into the passenger compartment. Not that many people heed the warning. It's different when you're in a convertible obviously because you're completely "open air" at that point, but in a situation where you are sitting at the front of a closed cabin, exhaust fumes could potentially circulate upto and accumulate there, or so they say. So yeah, not too likely in the Z, but hey, it could happen.

be sure to take a pic and keep the windows down while you are driving. it's still better than following a bus/truck with windows opened. hahahah

So you're saying you don't believe me? I'll see if I can find some documentation on this for you, Mr. Skeptic.

This is beyond retarded.

Might as well remove the rear fenders, that might look cool too.

So..first..wow...lots of feedback. Cool. I want to reassure you that I'm not going to be doing this and not because of the feedback. But I was still interested to know if there was someone out there who possibly changed their rear hatch to a carbon fiber one but had to go somewhere mid-installation and drove without one temp. Guess not. Also surprised no one knows what celica I am referring to. Let me see if I can dig up a link. Wow...first hit. God Bless Google.

Ok, I have to admit, that's pretty cool. I'm guessing that car is substantially longer than the Z, and the seating area in the back sits much lower than you would trying to do this with the Z, unless you took out the spare, etc.
