I went with the Track model simply for the cloth seats (Leather tends to crack & look cheap after a while - IMO) & the Brembro brake system. Before I bought my Z, I would always notice the nice brake setups on other cars and only wished I had the same. What ever you decide, I am sure you will be happy with it.

I still think if you want a "track" car its best to go base and build it. If you want a touring or "looks" car as previously stated the touring does really well. The track just doesnt really come through on its name. Id expect it to be the lightest model with some jdm seats and the nismo exhaust stock to really make it worth the price.
Even though overall, the Track is heavier than a Base, the 8 lbs difference in wheel weights (Rays v.s. either the 17" or 18" stock rims) offers a faster 0 to 60 time by 0.4-0.5 seconds, by some estimates.

But, yes, I suppose you could modify a Base that will outperform the Track.

I have cloth seats in my winter jetta beater (2000) and the cloth seats are wearing and looking cheap... My leather seats in my 350Z (2003) still looks brand new, but of course, I take care of it by putting leather cleaner and protectent every week on the seats. I have my windows tinted to block out more sun and I also garage the car as much as possible.

I do regret not having the brembo option though.

Just a minor correction to your statement...the Brembos made a noticeable difference in repeated braking, demonstrating their usefulness on the track, it's not like they don't make a difference, they just don't do it in your driving conditions. The extra weight in the track model comes from the brakes as well, this was debated to death in another thread, but that's where it is.

Honestly, if you look at the cost of "building" a base model (installing an LSD, upgrading brakes, lightweight wheels) it would cost you far more than just buying a track model.

Anyway, we all have cool cars
