"Rock Chips on Sides of Car...HOW??!!"

Because you own a 350Z! I have them all over my car too. Poor quality paint.

Jeeze, my thread brought back from the dead. LOL. I don't even own the ZR anymore. My coupe has been pretty much chip free after ~5k miles except for the windshield which has about 4 chips in it. I'll take windshield chips over paint chips anyday though.

I'm not on the highway much but I've got one on each door, and the front has a sh!tload, the hood has a few, and only 12k miles.

I thought about the clear bra thing but after all the cost of installing, replacement duration and then the cost of replacing the clear bra. I've opted to just repaint the bumper every so many years. Besides, it's a daily driver for me, not a show car. If it were a show car it would have more trailer miles on it than driven miles.

What coupe? A 350Z coupe? If so, why did you trade?

The ZR was my first convertible and the fun of open air driving didn't last very long. I mostly couldn't stand ppl being able to look at me from every angle. It's kind of unnerving unless your ostentatious. I think I lost my mind when I bought it LOL. I traded it in for an 06 350Z GT coupe. Been loving it ever since.

A year ago I was cutting the lawn and my mower discharged grass clippings and assorted flying debris in your direction.

Well, I had to ask because the ZR people are always stating that you never see a ZR person go to a Coupe. I had to make sure. Guess they can't really claim that one now.

I know what you mean though, I'm just not a convertible kind of guy. I'm pretty outgoing and like attention, but I just to "open" in a convertible.

Rock chips? Ya wanna talk about rock chips!!?? I was travelling home from a ball tourny/ camping trip on the long weekend in Sept. The idiot road crew had put what is called chip seal on the road. Basically they put down a layer of tar then cover it with small round pebbles that are supposed to adhere to the tar. They had the road apparently cleaned off with a sweeper but not very well. Long story short bumper to bumper traffic heading home from a long weekend and travelling at 65 mph you can imagine how many rocks come flying up off the road ( $2,400 damage to be precise) New windshield, re-paint the hood, fenders and bumper. Myself and about 1,000 other drivers have claims going through. Big law suit. The only good thing is my bumper was previously chipped and now it is just like out of the factory. I think I will buy a clear bra. Does anyone have any experience with these? I hear they are pretty hard to install. This link below also shows clear paint guards for the sides.
