Do it too much and and your transmission will fall on the floor.

if you've ragged your car...they will have more evidence that you've abused the car than you ever will have of the manufacturer's defect...before they replce your clutch under warranty, they will check every bit of the car and take pictures of clutch and certain parts of the motor and send them to Nissan to have them look at them before they deem it manufacturer defect....so ummm...sorry to say buddy, that's coming outta your pocket...

It's def. a battle you won't win...and the very fact that you are asking about a clutch within a topic that deals with clutch abuse can not mean very good things!

If your downshifting from 5th to 3rd jus tmake sure to rev match
It sounds so much nicer to the car lol. Ull notice when it doesn't whine when engaging and stuff.

Yeah, I did this in my 94 accord and no major problems. Still running at 220K miles. I wish i had a garage or something so i could use it as the beater.

Anyways, yeah the Z sounds awesome when downshifting. I just dont do it everyday/every month...hardly ever...

After reading this thread, I still did not find out what the perfect launch RPM is for the Z. I know different cars launchs better at certain RPMs. So for all of you guys who have did some 1/4 mile runs with the Z, what is the most optimal launch RPM?

Thanks in advance.

2200 is where i have had the most success. I have ran 14.0 multiple times at the track. my trap is between 99mph and 101mph.

Thanks for the response Haulass350. Doesn't 2200 seem a bit low for a 1/4 mile launch. Have you tried to launch at above 4K and see if that improved your times?

2,000 - 3,000 rpm with DOT tires is about right. I wish that I could be more exact but I'm watching the Christmas tree not the tach.
