Houston has a tow policy on the freeways. You get a flat, there is a tow truck driver there ASAP to tow your vehicle either off the freeway or to your house. I just use the Z for local driving. No spare. Have sub-box built into spare tire well.

I have my spare, I take long interstate and backroad trips with the wife where cell coverage is not guaranteed. I'm a rather be safe than sorry guy, I suppose.

I have a roadster and I removed the spare tire.

I need it for space, about doubled my trunk capacity and I'm not going to use the spare anyways. It's half the width of my aftermarket rear, I don't feel comfortable driving with that especially in bad weather.

No spare, 5 tire plugs, 4 bald tires and 1 new nail I found today. It is starting to become scary driving. Getting new tires this week. It was either headers or tires so the tires got delyed just a little bit!

Hell yeah~ spare tire's a heavy sucker~ Since I took out the spare, there's too much gap b/w the tire and the fender now. Got to drop the height now...

Simple fix to not having a spare. carry around a plug kit you can get one for about five bucks with several plugs. get the one with the pistol grip you can get a better grip. i also carry a small air compressor to plug into the lighter. i have been driving for almost twenty years and that is all i need. the majority of flats are from something you ran over. so just plug it and go. who needs a spare!!! you can fix the tire without taking it off the car and roll out. this has saved me alot of times especially when i worked for my dads construction co. and we would constantly get flats at the jobsites. hopefully some of you will do this and it will save you from sitting along side the road.

Does taking out the spare really increase rear ride height?

I think taking out the spare and running a quarter tank of gas helps with the understeer. definitely more tail happy

Got my car wih 6k miles on it and there was no spare. I'm rarely out in the middle of nowhere and have Roadside Assistance so I'm not concerned.

My only concern with runflats is knowing whether one of them has a small leak. Was just reading yesterday that they are designed to travel up to 50 miles after getting punctured. How would I know one of them is? Cost is the other issue as there is no repairing them; have to be replaced. And that leads to uneven tread depth....argh.

I can't really notice anything in terms of performance or steering after taking out the spare. I think gas mileage went up just a little bit. Need more time to measure this though.
