During this time of gas price gouging, does anyone know a logical reason why you can't run regular (87 Oct) gas. I know thw manual says 92 Oct, however there is no turbo or supercharger. It is a V6 motor. I have read where you can feel the difference in performance, well I doubt it. Any Nissan mechanics here please explain....

 

If you want logic, look at the manual. It's full of logic. Run whatever you want.

as for the performance loss. you might and you might not feel it, but i think when you drive it you'll compensate and end up negating the benefit (i.e. heavier on the gas). Besides, why would you even risk putting sumthin thats less than optimal in your giant investement?

In all fairness to Nexx, there have been about INFINITY posts about this. And +1 to what he posted.

 

I paid about $1.25 for a liter of water. That calculates to about $4.75 per gallon of water. Yet we complain about gas being in the 3 dollar range.

You should be fine with 87 Oct. My Ex-Supra(n/a req'd premium gas) with 150K still runs strong with regular 87 Oct. But you will feel the differenc in a FI for sure. I heard 91 Oct only cost 1 cent more than regular 87 Oct to produce by the oil companies.

Besides, most of us will not keep the car for more than 6 yrs.....So run whatever you feel like.

 

I like to mix a little water with my 87 Octane Too, make it stretch a bit further...

 

 

From what a reliable source told me, meaning this man worked for the gas/oil companies, all the gas is the same and they come from the same place. Gasoline is gasoline, it all burns the same. He suggested just putting regular gas at a gas station who is selling it for a cheap price, then once a month spend $60-$70 on a good fuel injector cleaner 'n dump it in your tank. That's what he does 'n his wife 'n himself drive a Mercedes 'n Volvo. He's also in the process of purchasing a G35. I'm not saying this is the best way because I personally have no tried it out yet, but I felt like I should share it with you fella's. =)

 

with my z32, when i put in regular it would stall coming off the highway, and toll booths, there is def a difference, my sis drove my z once and accidently put regular and it stalled on her too... from then on i only put super. IMO wouldnt you want the best for you car if it only take an extra 3-4 or even 5 dollars more?

maybe if u have a POS that u dont care about ans maybe is ur daily driver then its a different story.

 

You don't even save $60-70 a month switching to the cheap stuff. Why would you even bother?

 

I cant understand why someone would put regular in their car period. I mean you will only save about 5-10 cent and what can you do with that in America today? Hell you cant even buy candy with 10 cent.
