She kept her cool, though. PEI says to leave the nozzle in the vehicle and tell attendent to hit the emergency shut-off.

edit: looks like mchong75 already covered this. sorry, i didn't see that before i posted!
"Myth Busters" invalidated this claim on one of their episodes.

according to tv.com, the Mythbusters episode you mention dealt specifically with cell phones causing gas station explosions. they don't.

static electricity can and does cause explosions.

I started cracking up when I read the title to this thread, knowing exactly what he was referring to...lol I get shocked in my Z all the time, no matter what I'm wearing, or what the weather is like. It's not dry in South Florida either! lol Funny how I never had this problem in any of my other cars.

In my old 2002 Grant Am GT I would get shocked EVERY SINGLE DAMN TIME I stepped in or out of my car. I would creep up on my door, and it just all happens in slow montion, i reach for the door handle hoping i get no shock...then ZAP!....same thing happens when getting out of the car....but as for the Z, not even once have i got shocked, its wierd...I don't know why it doesnt happen with my Z.

They also did the static electricity theory. What they did was built a giant plexie glass box. Inside, they place a cloth couch. Then they place a pair of women's panties on top of the couch, attached to an actuator. They remotely moved the panties back and forth to create the static electricity, which discharging them as well. The gas fumes being injected into the cube never ignited. It was a funny episode to watch.
