Exclamation What Gives????

I need to get something off my chest. It concerns the apparent double standard being employed by Nissan.
Specifically the way they are making the 350Z available to certain areas of the country for up and close inspection while the rest of us have to live vicariously through postings.
I live on the East Coast and have read of sitings in various places. Those sitings however appear to be random and accidental. Yet there have been postings that tell of the car being in one place for people to sit in and listen to the stereo, etc.
There is even a video of where two cars pulled into a "strip mall" for people to inspect the car.
What gives? What have the rest of done to recieve second hand treatment?? Who have we offended??
I feel all Zclan members should have similar opportunities. If there are events planned how about a heads up? If not how about a brief blurb as to why?

Do you expect them to take the pre-production cars to very city in the country?? Come on, the cars will begin deliveries in a few weeks. You can see them then.

Default not every city

I guess my point escaped you. The 350Z has been reportedly seen in various places along the East coast including Massachusetts. These have been random sitings with no announced fixed locations. This does not appear to be the case out West.
Why couldn't the car have been set up under a tent as it was reported on Zcar (in Stevens River?). That way it could be observed up close and personal.
Now that you mention it, the car could be in major metropolitan areas that people could choose to go to.
There is definitely a "double standard" being applied.
The East Coast, Midwest, Southeast, all appear to be the second cousins of the Zclan.

I know what you're talking about. They have the Z displayed in the West at multiple places, but no where over here. It's just not fair.

It may come down to cost and availability. The locations that have hosted the car are fairly close to NNA.

Trust me, living 5 miles from the Boston site and not even knowing that was there until too late makes me cringe.

This will only make it better when I sit in MINE (I keep telling myself...)

"Never attribute to malice that which can be adequately explained by stupidity." -Hanlon's Razor

I don't think Nissan is stupid through-and-through, but their PR sure sucks. Why not just post upcoming Z appearances on nissannews.com?

I agree, it's ridiculous that the east coast doesn't get a good preveiw. I posted this a week ago. It's really not fair. They've only been as far east as TEXAS! It's funny that over hear, we need an international auto show just to be able to look at the outside of the car, but out west, all they need is a strip mall and a Fuddruckers, and they can sit in it, rev the engine, play with the radio, check golf bag space, etc. Maybe there is secret East Coast Embargo that will lift on July 3rd also!

I read about the Z sighting in Massachusetts at zcar but I'm very skeptical. It is just my opinion but it sounded like the poster had a very vivid imagination.

they should send atleast one to every major city and let thoes that preorderd come look at the car and sit in it and whatever else, that way there are no major suprises as far as the demitions or interior when the car comes. THe can do this after july 3 too so they would not be giving any secrets away.

WHAT A GREAT QUOTE!! Definitely not malice, but does seem like stupidity if there are several Zs on the east coast (per Jay) and they don't make ONE available at a dealership for a few hours for the pre-orderers to view.

Default Bracketheads survey

If you go to the map Brackethead created, based on feedback from preorderers, you can see that The East Coast has at least as many pre-orders as California. Take a good look at the the Northeast corridor NJ, NY, Conn, Mass. and there is a very heavy concentration of cars. Then add in Fla and I still come to the question "Where's the Beef" Nissan???
I am very happy for you in Texas and California, and maybe it is a matter of NNA head quarters being in California and the huge Zcar following in Texas.
From a PR standpoint it doesn't make much sense to **** off people in other parts of the country where there are a lot of pre-orders.
How much effort would it take to make a statement telling us if we will be seeing the car like in California and Texas. If not why?
That is a no brainer as I see it. There is no budget busting program that would be needed to let us know whether we will or won't get to sit in the car like in the aforementioned states.
Zisme or yelogto could be authorized to make a post. Am I wrong?

archduke,

I feel for you guys out East from here. Hell, I'm in San Diego and haven't seen the damn thing yet!!

It would be nice if Nissan did some kind of "official" unveiling at dealerships in major metro areas. Although, maybe that's something they've got planned for July. Don't know.

I read over on zcar.com that the base model that's been up in San Jose was supposed to be coming down to San Diego, but the guy there didn't give specifics. I asked on this forum and somebody mentioned that he heard it was going back to NNA.

I think it's obvious that the very first pics we saw, courtesy of Scafremon, were in California because that's where NNA headquarters is. Sightings in Texas because of the Z Convention/Caravan thing. But, why is there one in San Jose right now? Why was there one or two in Boston? Why weren't the pre-orderers called by their dealerships to let them know they would be around. I DON'T KNOW. So much cloak and dagger, makes my head hurt.

gsh1976,

It was not my imagination, those Zs were in Boston. I still can't believe it myself, I'm feeling very lucky. That I got to ride in one goes to show how good Nissan folks are to Z fans. It was some kind of press conference (I'm guessing only the media knew about it). They could have kick my *** out, but they didn't.

I too was feeling left out seeing pics of the Z in parking lots for everyone to see, specially since I'm in the East Coast. It's understandable since Nissan is based in California, so that's were they can do it more often. Regardless, I don't think they need to be so secretive about it anymore (two people asked me if I knew they'll be there). They could have spend an extra few hours and had a public showing, at least for those who pre-ordered.

As to how many cars are there, the person I talked to told me there were only 8 cars in the country. These two came from Texas and were headed to NY, I wonder were they will be next.

I gain nothing from making this up, so I really don't care about those who don't believe me.
