Default Nice mod to make oil changes easier

I though it might be a good idea to share this neat little mod I came up with. It will make your oil changes go a little bit easier.

Below is a picture of where I took tin snips to my lower air deflector / shield and made it a little easier for us. You only have to take out 8 bolts and a clip now instead of 14 bolts and a clip. In my case, that meant I had to also dismount and remount my splitter each time I did an oil change.

Below are the pictures of this mod:

Here is a couple more pictures so you can see how this effects the front end:

You only needs 5 quarts of oil. So, the oil (Mobil 1 5W-30), the filter (15208 65F00), and the drain plug washer only cost a total of about ~$25. That's less than a half a tank of gas these days.

Hopefully this will make your oil changes go a lot easier like mine did after this mod.

I bought a crx with one of those on it a few years ago and it leaked really bad. Could be an isolated case but I'll just stick with the regular drain plug.

Who buys a new crush washer every time? I think I've put one on in 32,000 miles, and I probably didn't have to do that. That's just Nissan trying to sell cheap parts to you

mecinoid apparently does...and yeah, I doubt they even bother when you bring your car in to the dealership.

I put this valve on my car the last oil change and no leaks...I liked the idea that you don't get the glug, glug effect with this which typically leads to fun driveway degreasing. Also handy if you've ever overfilled and need to drain a half-quart or so.

Trouble Mike? c'mon, who could reach this under the Z without ramps or a jack? Who would even know it was there to mess with in the first place? (besides posting it on the internet for all to see of course.)

Nah, I never used to install them. But, the last time I bought filters at the Dealership the Dude just gave me a handful of the crush washers for my hardware box. So, I figure it's good measure. I have had a couple old ones drip a drop or two in the past in my garage. It seeps past the treads. Even then, it didn't bother me. But, since they were free (& only like .05ea if you buy them) I figured the smart thing to do was to use them.

I actually change the washer every 4 to 5 changes... doesn't hurt to do it, but could [possibly] hurt not to...

Those valves are great! I had one on my Ford Probe GT for 10 years with no problems and bought one for my Z and my wife's car. Sure cuts down on the hassle of changing oil. Especially if you own a car that you can just lay on the floor and reach under to change the oil. The Z is the first car I have had to lift to change the oil. Still makes things easier though.

The Fumoto Valves are great. I've been using one for over 30k miles with no issues. I especially like the fact that it is much easier to obtain an oil sample, as you can easily control the flow of oil.
