Keyed! so pissed!
Okay, so my Z got keyed on the street while visiting a friend...so unbelievably pissed. now I know the feeling of wanting to beat the repair costs out of whoever did it. worse of all, i saw this bmw that was keyed right where i was parked a few days later, left a note for him...turns out he's gotten keyed multiple times on that very same street. now i have scheming plans to catch this rat bastard, but more importantly my freakin car is messed up!
how can i tell if the scratch is down to metal? it's been a few weeks and it hasn't rusted, although two autobody shops have told me that it was down to metal (i think they're all lying to me because i showed up in scrubs and i guess they figured i was a doctor with lots of money) i can feel it with my finger nail, but am secretly hoping i can buff this out with buffer or some sort. any help?

If you can feel the scratch with your finger nail it generally is bad enough that the clearcoat need to be redone. Mine was done at a high quality yet low bidding Body Shop. It cost the insurance company $600 for reclearing of the car since they had to reclear parts of the fender to blend the clear together.
This was on my Firebird. But, look at it now:
Awesome job. I hope your job turns out as well as mine did.
BTW- with new coating etc... It may not rust for quite sometime if at all. What they might really be saying is that it is so deep that it has to be repainted then recleared.
If that is the case your looking at about $750 unless you go to Miracle and get a cheap paint job.
Good luck at any rate.

thanks everyone...very supportive forum! sucks nonetheless and might have to eat up the $450 that they quoted me. (insurance deductible is $1000) was kind of hoping that i'd be able to buy an orbital buffer and go to town on the scratch. oh well. ***holes will be ***holes.
