Default GEICO Raising Rates?????

So I just got my renewal notice for insurance in the mail with Geico, and apparently the Z is classified differently than it was in the last six months as a car that is "not as safe as was once considered to be." They said that this is across the board though and an independent company researched this for them so they had to change the code on the Z's, OMG WHAT BS! I found out the info on that when I called them up and asked what the deal was. Now they want like $280/mo from me for insurance on the car! I'm 23/m and single and have a couple of tickets too needless to say. I'm not sure what to do about this, I still have a month to go on my policy as you pay in advance on these types of deals and I'm paid up so far. Does anyone have any reccommendations on what company to go with? Any help would be great and I would switch easily if there was a marked difference in price, Thanks Guys!

Geico gave me a horrible quote when I was shopping for insurance, so I decided to keep looking and found a much better quote. I say keep shopping around before it expires and see if you can get a better deal with some1 else. Good luck.

You guys might check out Esurance.com. They literally cut my old rate in half although I don't own a Z yet. I have full coverage on a 2003 Spec-V and a 2005 Legacy for myself (24 yrs old, one ticket) and my wife (24 yrs old, no tickets) and pay $720 every 6 months.

It really saved me a ton of money as most other companies were looking to charge us $1,400 for the exact same coverage.

As an interesting side note - the Spec-V costs more to insure than the new Legacy.

Dude for six months its like $1,650 or something, and that's with all $1,000 ded's. I guess I'll shop around and see what's up, I think the whole deal is a scam really but what can you do. Anyways, When you have a lein on a car then you have to insure it fully anyways.

Lets hope you dont total some one elses 350z when you hit it, becuase your property damage is at 15k so if your found legally liable you will owe another 15k to cover what your insurance didnt.

Property Damage Liability
This coverage protects you when you are involved in an automobile accident that causes damage to another persons automobile/property and you are found to be legally liable. It also provides coverage to you and your resident relatives while driving a rented vehicle or when you borrow a vehicle from a person who is not a member of your household. Your policy also extends coverage to someone who operates your automobile with your permission and that person is not subject to any valid endorsement or exclusion. This coverage also pays for related expenses incurred as a result of a lawsuit filed against you.

If their record is clean, they have every right to complain at the rates...you obviously brought yours on yourself.

In fact, if you did all that listed above in a Z, then you are one of the ones helping the rates for ALL Zs go up.

No I have never been in any accidents in my Z until... yesterday. I already posted a thread on it. But I'm not going through insurance, I'm paying cash.

GEICO sucks hardcore!!!

I'm 23, clean record, etc. and they wanted to charge me ~$300/mo for my '04 350 Z.

I am going through ANPAC and pay $112/mo. for full coverage.

Default Try Esurance

+1 on the Esurance. I'm in Northern Cali and my 6 month premium is $520 with the same coverage as MCHONG75. 30 years old with no claims for the last 4 years. Keep in mind that the rates may be different depending on location and zip code... and btw, Geico sucks.. they gave me a ridiculous quote when I did it online... so yeah, check out Esurance..
