Do a google search for a NISSAN VIN decoder. Then you can see where all NISSANs are made.

Jason,
I see on my window sticker that it says final assembly point Elizabeth, NJ. I'm assuming that the Z gets "put together" somewhat once it arrives here. Any idea how much putting together goes on at the final port desination, thanks.

I was at the Nissan Tochgi plant (Japan) in Aug for a tour. The Zs are made there. The 2006's were all sitting there waiting to be shipped. From what I can see the whole car was made. I wonder what they would assemble in NJ?

No. The Z comes off the ship as it was driven on the ship. The only thing done at port may be top-off fluids, and remove protective paper and packaging.

not always...your correct that most Z's are shipped to their port destinations fully assembled, however the nissan distributors will most often add on any port installed parts at their processing centers, and the individual dealerships many add on dealer specific accessories, sealants, etc.

When the cars are delivered to dealers, the dealer must intsall:

Front Tow Hook Cover
Center Caps
Floor Mats moved from Trunk to Front position
Remove blue protective film from emblems

Yah when you use msn auto's car pricing software it may say option is a "port of entry installed item" or something like that. THat usually includes items like body kit's, spoilers, mud guards, interior dress up parts, wheel locks etc.

I bet things like the factory aero-kit, aluminum sill plates, cargo nets etc. are port installed items on the z.

the guys working at the ports work for the ports. they do not top off fluids, they do not install anything. they move cars as quickly as they can from the off load area to trucks or rail car, depending on where they are headed. all of these items are installed later on. the people working at the shipping yards drive these cars like crazy.........if you think your z has never been stressed or ragged out, several people have driven the car before you!!!! from the factory to shipping to unloading to the dealer pretty much all cars are driven by people trying to get a vehicle from A to B asap without crashing. and if anyone thinks their car has never been in rain...........i got some bech front property to sell in AZ
