Default passenger air bag

does anyone know how to disable the passenger airbag? i read in the manual that it apparently is an option that you have to get from the dealer when you buy your car. i would love to take my four year old for a ride in my z but the pax air bag is an issue. anyone?......

TSB NTB02-123 deals with the installation of an OEM airbag switch.

You need to ask for permission to do it from the NHTSA. Do a search here: www.nhtsa.dot.gov

I'm sending my request this week. No way I'm manually splicing electrical wires connected to shootgun shoots in my car ! LOL

From someone who has done this.....here's my thoughts....

You will have an almost impossible time finding a dealer that will install the Nissan OEM airbag switch. The reason for that is because of liability for the mechanic. This procedure is kind of like playing with the circuitry for a bomb....if you don't do it right, you can hurt or kill yourself (imagine having your head in front of the passengers side dash when the airbag goes off).

That said, I strongly recommend you contact www.airbagonoff.com. They installed the on/off switch in my car and did a great, affordable job. They can do passenger, driver or both, but you MUST provide justification to the NHTSA as to why you want them turned off and have them approve it. The airbag installer will not touch your car unless you have the appropriate paperwork.

Here are some pictures of my car's install. Contact me via PM if you have any questions.
