I figured that much. Talked to the dealer again. There are 15 orders ahead of me. I just wish that my dad had known to maybe check around to see which dealer's allocation would have premitted the quickest delievery. Ugh... These next two months will be hellish. On the bright side at least NNA knows that my order exists and that it is in the computer system.

I bet my dirty dealer didn't place the order till november or december. Man I am pissed.
Orders only go in once a month. Dealers only have a certain alottment each month to build [usually 3 or 4] It usually gets built the month _following_ the order, and is delivered 4 to 6 weeks after that. Once your order has been accepted by Nissan, you'll get an order number. It's a letter followed by a 6 digit number.

IOW, if your dealer missed getting your order in for December, which is likely if you didn't place an order first week of Dec, then your order won't even be accepted until the beginning of January. Follow that up with a build date of Feb, and a delivery date of late March to early April. Don't be upset, it's just the way of things. That's fairly normal for ordering a car from Japan as well. If you're lucky, you'll be able to pick up an order placed before you did, but if you're like me and have a strange combo of options, you'll need to wait for it to come in. I ordered first week of Oct, and it'll finally get here in about 3 weeks. It's not a trivial wait, and yes it sucks. But at least you're not alone.

I have the order number. The car order was probaly sent it in Nov./Dec. I don't know the exact allotment of our dealer but I wish to hell that it was about 20 cars bigger.

Well it looks like my dealer is trying to jerk me around. I got some story about my car being delayed at the port cause the ship came in and no one can inspect it till after the new year.

This is the 2nd time my car has been delayed.

They updated the inventory for my dealer and my car didn't show up on it...so I guess I shouldn't count on it getting here as soon as my dealer told me (tomorrow).

dkong66 and others,

I just checked nissanusa.com and my car just showed up, too. I ordered Sept. 13, Order # received in October, build month was November, VIN received Dec. 3, delivery should be real soon.

Looks like those that ordered in mid Sept. with the orders going to Nissan the first week of October are starting to get their cars.

Hope I get it before the end of the year!

Congrats Wayne, I'll be joining your ranks in a month or so. I think my build month is january or december. I'm not really sure. I am keeping in contact with nissan consumer affairs though. I think I will call and find out my build date tommorrow.

Hey Y'all!

Just wanted to let y'all know that the wait is definitely worth it.

I was one of those "pre-order" customers and waited 8 months. Got crazy near the end..found the "gate cam" for Newport News Shipyard and would log on to see if any car carriers were leaving...

When my car did finally arrive at Newport News, it was being held there because they didn't have enough aero packages to go around. So, through the advice of the Z specialist at NNA, I went to my dealer, wrote them a note to the effect that I wanted my car released to dealer w/o the spoiler. I got the the car 4 days later.

Have a great New Year!!

My dealer called me yesterday and said that my date had been moved from 12/24 to 1/16/03. So I picked up the phone and made some calls---talked to a few other dealers. After hearing that I found another dealer that was willing to dealer trade a Z for me he was able to find me a Z and it should be here Sunday.

Don't you just love it when a plan comes together?

Congrats,

I just talked to my sales manager and he is now telling me first week of January. I have a feeling it is because of the Aero Kit, but the sales manager says there is no way for him to know why because all they get is dates. So...we'll see I guess

Default IT'S HERE..........

And now the words that we've all been waiting to hear, "Your Z has just arrived at the dealership."

Yep. Got the infamous call at about 5 PM this afternoon (Saturday). I had talked to the salesman earlier today to make sure he was watching for it. People said he called within 1 minute of the truck pulling in and was standing guard so no holes would be drilled in the front bumper and no dealership sticker would be put on the back.

I did all of the paperwork this evening and I'm picking up the puppy tomorrow after church at about 1 PM. (They couldn't get a tech there quick enough this evening to fully check things out, hence the 1-day delay on driving it outta there.)

SUMMARY
  • Placed order with dealer Sept. 13 (Friday the 13th!)
  • Dealer placed order with NNA Oct. 2
  • Received Order # about Oct. 15 (W212###)
  • Build month was Nov.
  • Received VIN Dec. 3 (107###)
  • Appeared in dealer inventory (nissanusa.com) Dec. 27
  • Arrived at dealership Dec. 28; completed paperwork
  • Taking delivery tomorrow, Dec. 29
  • Total wait, about 15 weeks.

Hang in there. Your time will come.

I just got my Z---the old fashioned way. Called the dealer, got pissed when my delivery date got pushed back to a full month after the original date--told him I was gonna go somewhere else, and he worked out an out of state dealer trade.

Not conventional, but I'll take it. All I can say is WOW! I can't believe there are people here who are actually griping about this car. I'm just looking for curvy roads and excuses to drive it!
