Default Znow (the white stuff)

Well, I'm out here visiting the family this week in Virginia. My garage queen is cold, white and wet!

Merry X-mas (or happy <insert your holiday here>) everyone!

It's just a nickname. Related to NCAA b-ball tournament, you know, the 64-team bracket. I thought it was a funny word and it just stuck in my head.

Mine's stuck in the garage while I try to make a safe lane for her.

This was the pic I meant to put in the last post. That one is the view looking down from where I took this one. The next one will be looking up from the bottom. This can be quite the nerve-racking ride in snow and ice.

Brackethead--I'm in your stomping grounds right now and Cincy only got about an inch at best. I have never seen so much salt in all my life! Man, you guys really do believe in preventative maintenance!

Irishfan--how about we come your way instead of you stopping by the Fort! That hot tub is looking awfully good right now!

Glad to hear that's all we got, Joyia. Yeah, when it snowed 3" or so a couple weeks ago, I left the Z in the garage for a week and waited for the sand and salt to get swept away.

Did I mention that it seats 5 and the water temp is 100? It was great sitting out there on Christmas Eve with an ice cold Michelob watching the snow fall. I don't have that pic 'cause either my wife or I would have had to get out and stand in the cold snow to take it

Default My snow story - no pics

I was tricked by the nice x-mas eve weather and tried to drive my Z to my parents in Indiana. I guess I checked the weather report for Chicago and not North West indy. Either way, it said flurries and as many of you know, a big blizzard ended up going through indiana.

I still have the stock tires. I'd read the posts about the snow handling and I have now experienced it first hand.

About 5 miles from my parents place, i hit the storm and had to pull off to the side of the road.

After driving slowly a bit and seeing many 'normal' cars off the side of the skyway, I decided to get a tow truck and take me the rest of the way.

So now instead of my nice warm garage, the Z sits on the street covered in snow near my parents place. I took the train back to Chicago today.

The Z with stock tires has absolute ZERO snow/slush handling. It was even worse than I expected.

You NEED all weather/snow tires on the car if you dont live in warmer climes.

Fortunately my Z is safe and warm inside the garage with a fresh coat of Zaino.. unfortunately it looks like I will have to take it out in the salt/slush tomorrow. We ended up getting about 10" of snow in PA - the first white X-mas we've had in a long time. Unfortunately, we had to cancel X-mas dinner because of all the snow, but it was still pretty nice since it happens so rarely.
