The Z DOES look like a Porsche. Maybe not exactly, but one can say that they are similar. Stylistically, the cues are very close.

If someone said that my wife looked like "a common man's Victoria's Secret model", I'd take that as a compliment.

Don't get me wrong, though. I still think the Z looks BETTER than the Porsche, no matter how similar.

Yeah, the Z is a lot fresher design with modern concepts. The Porsche is still modifying it's original design from over 30 years ago. They tried with the 928 and 944 and failed. We'll have to see how well the Z does. I think Nissan got the right idea this time keeping it looking good and at a price a lot of us can/want to pay for a car.

I mean look at this thing:

It's a modern thing of beauty!

All the cars look similar to an untrained eye.

The thing is, it's all in the packaging and marketing. Your wife very well may be as good looking or even better looking than a Victoria's Secrets model. But by the way a Victoria's Secret model is made up, dressed down and plastered all over glamorously, people just buy into it and would just drool all over her, and think that she is better than say, a girl you see anywhere, when in fact if you take all those layers of superficialness away, that regular girl may actually be hotter than the model (sorry for the run-on).

People just buy into all that marketing crap. Look what the DeBeers did to diamonds.

Most of the European marques are really good at marketing, creating that aura of superiority. And people buy into it. A Porsche is no better looking than a Z, but people think so just because it costs more. I just want to tell the masses to wake up. Just because something costs more doesn't necessarily make it better.

ps: do I need a flame suit for this?

I totally agree with you. And very nice explanation on the victoria secret. His wife could be as beautiful or even more beautiful. But since her name is "Jane Doe, house wife" instead of "Jane Doe, Victoria Secret model". For some reason people think she is not as attractive or even more attractive then the victoria secret model.

Yes, I whopped 2 different 911's with my 1990 350ZX (hands down!)
It was great fun!! ( on the streets of Scottsdale - I was going 85 through the south business district from the river bottom - on the one occasion.

if you look closely enough ...the Z borrows the lines from an Audi TT, but the the Z is 10 times better looking .

I find the 350Z have similiar lines as the 300ZX. I don't think they tried to make it look llike the porsche or the audi tt.

The biggest difference theat they change from the 300ZX to the 350Z is the nose, the nose is much more stubby (which I like). I think it was a good idea to go with a stubbier nose.

Not porsche, never! It actually was designed from the 240 of the earlier 1970's, compare them closely! It's a modern version as the old bug versus the new bug.

Silverstone looks so good clean and dirty...thats why I bought it. Mines dirty right now.
My last 4 new cars have been black..best color CLEAN but keeping that way sucks.

I love the way both look...hell if I could afford a GT2 or GT3 I would be all over them...

it is better than a porsche. it's better than the boxster and boxster S at least. I am personally insulted when people always compare the Z to a Boxster. Boxsters have nothing on the Z when it comes to straightline performance

Is that a carbon fiber hood and a carbon fiber wing?

i just had a conversation with my German Mechanic (from Germany)who works on my m320...he says VW owns Porsche and Audi and they are more or less similar cars.
I do like the 911 RUF edition which tops out at 212mph on the autobahn....

Be careful when making these comparisons, I think Renault owns/controls Nissan nowadays!

heh, I whooped a Porsche in a 1969 Cadillac Coupe deVille! 472 cubic inch (7.7 liter), 375 HP V8, baby! The car weighed around 5000 lbs. Check out some of the specs and features back then... http://www.100megsfree4.com/cadillac/cad1960/cad69d.htm

To be certain, I'd think my wife is "better" or "hotter" than a Victoria's Secret model anytime because of what I know of her character/personality (cheesy, yes, I know).

Likewise, I would prefer a Z to a Porsche anytime because of what I know of these cars' respective characters/personalities.

Mercedes, Audi, Jaguar, and a buncha other "elite" car companies all make cars that are severely sub-par to the Z, no matter what kind of fancy packaging goes into them.
