Question 350Z head room - need 1" to 2" more!

Has anyone figured out a way to lower the 350Z seats 1" to 2" to gain more head room with the roof? I'm 6'2" and I barely fit now. With a helmet on I've got major problems. Has anyone installed racing seats and does that lower the seat height for more head room? Is there anything to do with the stock seats to help?

Thanks for the help. If you've installed race seats please send photo's.

Low J. has.

He took it to a shop and had them do something with the brackets.

Sorry I don't know more.

I'm 6'4" and don't have this issue. If you're out of room at 6'2" then you must be REALLY long in the torso (that or you have a huge head ).

I think I'd be cramped with a helmet, but I think I'd still fit...

But yeah, I did get mine lowered. I bought the Corbeau Legend seat with the Corbeau rails and took it to a local welding shop that cut and re-welded the mounts on the bottom of the rails to give me over an inch more of headroom. Works great and still have all of the seat adjustments.

No helmet without modification. But, without you should have NO problems.

Big head alert....................lol JK!

I'm 6'1"ish & fit perfectly fine with LOTS of clearance (never tried to fit with a helmet though)

Anyways, don't they make some racing seats that sit lower?

Did you try to move the seat a little forward and leaning it back more (and hence slightly lowering where your head is??? Just a thought.

I'm 6'2". With a helmet, I found I had to recline the seat a bit more than normal to fit, but I still found it comfortable...

Default Keep sending suggestions....

Thanks for the links. I've got a long torso. I know folks 6'4" that fit the Z with no problems and I know someone 6'1" that can't fit. With the absolute best stock seat adjustment I can barely fit my hand between my head and the roof. Moving the seat forward, back, changing the recline only makes it worse. Reclining the rear seat actually makes it worse since the roof slopes down so fast.

I'm hoping I find someone who has the same problem and has gone through the mod's to get 1" to 2" more.

Thanks again for the links.

yeah, I'm 6'7" so the only cars I've ever been able to actually sit in comfortably without tilting my head or crouching down in the seat are an EVO, our Mazdaspeed, and my old Honda Element.

6'5" here... do well even with helmet ( scrapes but fits )

i've the cloth seats - they seem to be lower than the leathers, less stuffing?

i've pulled the drivers seat out and bent out the first set of stops so it goes back ~1" more - agree that sitting staighter up gives some more room

i was considering having a shop 'monster garage' it a bit lower there is room in the brackets to cut out 3/4" or so but it's been allright

my complaint is about the rearview mirror - really gets into line of sight out the front for us tall folks -

class action lawsuit on height prejudiced sports car manufactures anyone??

I,m 6.1" , with my Recaro SPG and custom seat brackets I must have around 4-6" of headroom with my Helmet on. My seat sits pretty much on the floor, and my legs are pretty much straight out to the pedals. Call Speedware Motorsports @ 425-869-5680, they have a variety of seat brackets or can make a custom set of brackets for you

I'm 6'3" and long bodied, but still fit in the Z fine. Don't think I'd fit with a helmet though. For me anyway, especially with the cloth seats, I had more headroom than 90% of the other quick cars out there (for example, the g35 with the sunroof gave me lots of problems). Must suck to be too tall for the Z! Looking at the brackets, you should be able to get close to an inch by modifying them.

Just pull the seat out and sit on a phone book. JK im 6'2" with maybe an inch to spare without a helmet. I suffer from long torso and short leg.

I'm worried b/c i want to get a nice set of bride or recaro seats and i don't know if they sit any higher than my current leather ones. Besides what "Along" said does anyone else have any experiences with aftermarket seats?
